Reports To: Managing Director / CEO
Target Salary: €80,000 gross/year (plus bonus scheme to be defined)
About the Opportunity
A prominent, long-standing German payroll accounting and enterprise service provider located in Berlin is seeking an operational, results-driven Head of Sales & Marketing (m/f/d). Leveraging over three decades of industry knowledge alongside cutting-edge digital software tools, the company delivers targeted payroll and administrative technology solutions to mid-market businesses.
In this dual-focus leadership position, you will direct a dedicated team of 5 professionals, combining active, day-to-day operational guidance with long-term strategic execution to accelerate outbound lead acquisition, scale existing commercial operations, and modernize digital marketing channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Provide hands-on functional and disciplinary management for a 5-person Sales & Marketing team, fostering a supportive, high-performance, and goal-oriented workplace culture.
- Go-to-Market Strategy: Design and implement an integrated commercial sales and digital marketing strategy targeting mid-sized commercial clients for specialized payroll services and proprietary software solutions.
- Operational Sales & Campaign Management: Supervise day-to-day commercial sales activities, drive acquisition performance across multiple channels, and execute integrated marketing initiatives (incorporating SEO/SEA and targeted CRM campaigns).
- Process Optimization & CRM Rollout: Review, introduce, and enhance CRM systems and sales automation platforms to modernize pipeline tracking, deal management, and cross-departmental workflows.
- Budget & Data Ownership: Take full ownership of the joint sales and marketing budget. Analyze market trends, competitive intelligence, and key conversion metrics to refine product messaging and pricing strategies.
- Strategic Partnerships: Serve as an executive brand ambassador at key industry conferences, build relationships with major B2B partners, and coordinate cross-functionally with internal software development and payroll accounting teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in B2B commercial sales and marketing, including hands-on team management.
- Sector Background: Proven background in the German B2B service industry—ideally centered around payroll processing, HR services, financial technology, or B2B SaaS solutions.
- Digital & Technical Mastery: Practical expertise operating CRM systems, managing sales pipelines, and utilizing digital marketing frameworks (SEO/SEA, analytics tools).
- Leadership Style: A practical, close-to-the-work approach to leadership—capable of coaching individual team members while actively executing operational marketing campaigns and client negotiations.
- Education: Holds a university degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commercial Sales, or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Language Skills: Professional fluency in German (minimum C1 level) combined with fluent written and spoken English skills.
- Location: Residing in or near Berlin, with the ability to maintain a regular, consistent physical presence at our Berlin headquarters.
Candidate Profile
- Data-Driven & Analytical: Comfortable using performance metrics to measure campaign return on investment, funnel conversion rates, and overall pipeline health.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Highly self-motivated with a strong hands-on work ethic, taking full personal ownership of projects from initial concept through to final execution.
- Communicative Networker: Exceptional interpersonal and networking capabilities, able to build trust across internal teams, executive clients, and external business partners.
What We Offer
- Flexible Hybrid Model: Up to 2 remote workdays per week alongside access to a bright, modern corporate office environment in central Berlin.
- Net-Salary Optimization: Access to customized benefit plans, including local transit allowances, meal stipends, and corporate mobility programs.
- Health & Well-being: On-site yoga sessions, complimentary daily beverages and fresh fruit, alongside structured work-life integration initiatives.
- Culture & Team Spirit: Flat organizational structures, rapid decision-making processes, regular team gatherings, and a positive, collaborative environment.
- Professional Growth: Dedicated personal budget for internal and external professional training, industry seminars, and executive leadership coaching.
