Through the battles and the breakthroughs, we're there. Where will you be?

For over a century, our incredible teams have provided care for people when they need it most. Our people feel great pride in this, and they value the security and stability we offer. But it also means so much opportunity - to build on all that’s gone before, to grow your impact and gain experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.

As a for-purpose organisation with over 10,000 dedicated, compassionate people, we continue to offer more services and deeper care than ever before. With Mercy, you’ll have the chance to make an impact and gain experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.

At Mercy Health, it’s all about taking what we have and making it better.

To do that, we need you.

Join us at Mercy Health, and help our teams deliver even greater outcomes.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Day Procedure Unit ANUM with advanced clinical skills in Anaesthetic and PACU nursing, complemented by experience in Endoscopy and Day Procedure Scrub/Scout roles. The successful applicant will bring strong clinical leadership capabilities, a commitment to the Mercy Values and National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, and a passion for delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. As an ANUM, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day operations, coordinating patient flow, leading quality improvement initiatives, supporting staff development, and fostering a positive, collaborative team culture while contributing to the ongoing growth and development of the service.

As a growing public hospital serving Melbourne's western community, Werribee Mercy Hospital is committed to expanding access to high-quality healthcare services. With an exciting growth strategy underway, this is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to service development while advancing your professional career.

Established in March 2023 to support the recovery of elective endoscopy services following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Day Procedure Unit has become an integral part of the hospital's surgical services. The unit currently consists of two dedicated endoscopy theatres, 11 PACU recovery bays, and purpose-built admission and discharge areas designed to support efficient patient flow and exceptional patient care.

To meet increasing service demand and support future growth, an additional two operating theatres are currently under development and will further enhance the unit's capacity and capabilities.

What you’ll bring

You’re resilient, compassionate and have a whole lot of heart. Most importantly, you are committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive Anaesthetic/Post anaesthetic care Unit experience within the Day Procedure Unit, coordinating patient flow and delivering safe, efficient care in a fast-paced environment through effective prioritisation, communication, and teamwork.

  • A compassionate, flexible, and positive leader with the ability to adapt to the varied responsibilities of the ANUM role, including floor coordination, clinical when required, portfolio management, staff support, and the promotion of safe, high-quality care aligned with NSQHS Standards and patient-centred outcomes.

  • Exceptional organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage competing clinical demands and support operational requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership, supervision, mentoring, and support to nursing staff while fostering a collaborative team environment and promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance, risk management, evidence-based practice, and the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards through participation in quality improvement initiatives, audits, incident review processes, and accreditation activities to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and continuous service improvement.

  • Desirable: Post Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing or currently working towards completion.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
