The REO Specialist is responsible for managing a portfolio of real estate owned (REO) assets throughout the disposition process. This role focuses on maximizing investor recovery, minimizing asset-related expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and driving timely asset resolution.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage the disposition of an assigned portfolio of REO assets.
  • Review appraisals, broker price opinions (BPOs), and market data to determine valuation and disposition strategies.
  • Develop and execute asset sale strategies designed to maximize recovery and minimize loss exposure.
  • Coordinate with internal business partners and third-party vendors to support asset management and disposition activities.
  • Monitor timelines and milestones to ensure timely marketing, sale, and liquidation of assets.
  • Review and distribute reports, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to improve departmental procedures, workflows, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and investor regulations impacting REO operations.
  • Ensure compliance with established company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of REO Asset Management, Default Servicing, Loss Mitigation, or Mortgage Servicing experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred

  • Associate's degree or higher in a business-related field.
  • Experience with mortgage servicing and default servicing systems.
  • Working knowledge of Pyramid, MSP, Black Knight/LPS, Sagent, or similar servicing platforms.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including:
    • Excel
    • Word
    • Outlook
  • Experience utilizing mortgage servicing and REO management systems preferred.
