The Regional Product Leader is accountable for the underwriting performance, profitable growth, talent management and development, and strategic execution of a product line within a regional product tower.Serving as the senior product authority within the region, this leader co-owns the regional product-level P&L with the Southeast Product Leader for Marine and ensures consistent execution aligned with enterprise risk appetite, pricing, and underwriting standards.
This role partners closely with regional underwriting teams, product leadership, and business development to drive product strategy, execution discipline, and market responsiveness. This role blends technical underwriting leadership with strong people management and commercial execution to advance Markel’s position in the regional E&S and Admitted market.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Partner with Southeast Marine RPL to manage the P&L for the designated product line within the region, ensuring delivery of growth and profitability targets
- Lead the regional execution of product strategy, including underwriting actions, risk selection, and pricing adherence
- Act as the senior underwriting authority for the region, managing referral frameworks and escalating complex risks where necessary
- Partner with the Executive Underwriting Officer (EUO) and Product Line Leaders (PLLs) to refine pricing, coverage, and product delivery strategy
- Drive go-to-market efforts and distribution strategy in collaboration with business development teams
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing underwriting team with a focus on talent progression, performance, and alignment
- Monitor portfolio health, emerging risks, and external market trends to adjust strategy and optimize mix
- Contribute to the development of new products and tools aligned with regional opportunities and enterprise objectives
- Influence regional hiring and training to ensure technical depth and strategic alignment within the product
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required
- Required experience: Minimum of 8+ years of experience in underwriting or product leadership in E&S or specialty lines with an emphasis in Property
- Demonstrated success managing underwriting teams and portfolios at scale
- Strong knowledge of market dynamics, competitive landscape, and distribution strategy
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Preferred qualifications: Advanced degree (MBA) or professional designations (CPCU)
- Experience managing an underwriting book >$50M GWP

Pay information:
The salary range for this position is $177,100-368,900/year. The posted salary range reflects the lowest and highest base salary applicable to this role across our U.S. locations. Individual offers are determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors. As a result, the salary offered for a specific location will fall within a narrower range than the overall range displayed in this posting. This position may also be eligible to participate in the Company's annual incentive plan.Who we are:
