All skill levels are encouraged to apply. We will provide training for the individual selected for the job.This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating crews that switch rail cars and service locomotive consumables.
Key Responsibilities
Supervisory Duties
- Oversee daily crew operations to ensure safe, efficient railcar switching and servicing of locomotive consumables
- Plan and direct the movement of railcars according to customer requirements and facility schedules
- Train new employees on safety procedures and job tasks
- Provide performance input and ensure work is completed in accordance with company policies
- Maintain clear and frequent communication with the Site Leader regarding progress and operational updates
- Complete required paperwork related to railcar movement, billing, and crew activities
- Conduct regular quality audits and enforce housekeeping standards
- Interpret railroad signals and follow all safety protocols and switching schedules
- Monitor track conditions and report obstructions or defects
- Wear required PPE at all times
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ year of rail operations experience required
- 1+ year of supervisory experience strongly preferred

- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and non-verbal communication abilities
- Able to multitask, plan ahead, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to safety and teamwork
Language & Math
- Able to read and interpret safety rules, technical manuals, and standard operating procedures
- Write routine reports and correspond clearly with managers and team members
- Proficient in basic math, including calculating percentages and interpreting graphs
Problem-Solving
- Apply sound judgment to resolve operational issues using written, oral, or visual instructions
- Capable of handling problems in dynamic or partially standardized environments
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, and operating around heavy equipment
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials as needed
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions, with regular exposure to noise, fumes, and moving machinery
