About the position
The Early Phase Earth Scientist is responsible and accountable for delivering technical support to business segments to enable asset growth through brownfield and post-initial investment decision greenfield opportunities. The successful candidate should have broad experience across geology and geophysics disciplines and will deliver subsurface characterization that may include seismic interpretation, well log and surveillance data integration, 3D reservoir modelling, resource maturation, well maturation, and technology deployment.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Expertise in integrated subsurface characterization, including demonstrated knowledge of seismic interpretation, seismic attribute analysis (pre and post stack) , mapping, log interpretation, stratigraphy, structural geology, clastic depositional environment, 3D reservoir model building, and volumetric assessment.
- Ability to utilize and integrate multiple datasets (e.g., logs, seismic, pressure, geochem., rock quality, etc.) for integrated interpretation and earth modelling.
- Proficient in Petrel and able to utilize/update static models, collaborate with engineers, and support new model construction.
- Experience utilizing workflows and tools for generating new asset development opportunities to mature resources to reserves to production, assessing/mitigating risk, and advancing capital projects.
- Skilled collaborating and communicating with technical peers, cross-disciplinary teams, and other stakeholders. Able to serve as mentor and adopt/deploy relevant technology.

Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in Earth Science, from deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
- 5-15 years hands-on experience in Oil and Gas with a broad Geologic and Geophysical technical foundation.
- Domain knowledge relevant to the energy sector and working knowledge of Oil and Gas value chain.
- Candidates should have a proven ability to develop integrated interpretations across Geological, Geophysical and Petrophysical data sets and deliver high-quality reservoir management work products and project deliverables.
- Fluency in Petrel or similar software is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Broad experience working multi-disciplinary projects.
Hands-on 3D reservoir modelling experience. - Handson experience in uncertainty assessment and probabilistic modelling.
- Broad experience working conventional assets across multiple regional basins.
Selection Criteria 1
Technical Competence:
Deep knowledge of subsurface data and workflows including a high level of fluency with reservoir characterization, stratigraphy, static model interrogation, manipulation & building, field development planning, as well as well planning and execution experience. Experience with subsurface modelling workflows and data integration (e.g. dynamic modelling, mechanical earth modelling, petrophysics, geophysics) is also needed for the role. Experience with digital/data projects and/or agile project management is a plus. A breadth of upstream experience would be beneficial including: reservoir management, progression of major capital projects, new field start-up, and base business. Deepwater and gas field experience not required, but desirable.
