Position Summary
The Occupational Therapy Assistant provides skilled occupational therapy treatments under the clinical supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. As a valued member of the interdisciplinary care team, the OTA collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to help patients achieve their highest level of function and independence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy treatments according to treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Assist the Occupational Therapist with evaluations, assessments, and complex treatment procedures as appropriate.
- Observe, document, and report patient conditions, responses, and progress to the Occupational Therapist.
- Maintain accurate daily treatment records and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.
- Assist in maintaining therapy equipment and the overall Occupational Therapy department.
- Participate in in-service education programs, staff meetings, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities to maintain clinical competency and stay current with industry best practices.
- Comply with all Vertis Therapy policies and procedures, as well as applicable state, federal, and professional standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate of Science degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Current license or eligible for license under statutes in the state of practice.
- Prefer minimum one (1) year rehabilitation experience in setting serving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility.
- Prefer active membership in the state and national American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation.
- Ability to understand and follow the directions of the Occupational Therapist and the policies and procedures of Vertis Therapy.
