Job Description:
Alignment Lead
The Alignment Lead will be responsible for the planning, design review, coordination, and delivery of railway alignment solutions for an express railway system. The role will oversee horizontal and vertical alignment development, corridor optimization, multidisciplinary coordination, constructability reviews, and integration with civil, systems, operational, and environmental requirements throughout all project stages.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, review, and development of railway alignments across all project stages.
Develop and review horizontal and vertical alignment designs, geometric layouts, corridor strategies, and operational requirements.
Ensure alignment designs are optimized for safety, performance, constructability, operational efficiency, and whole-life asset considerations.
Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces with civil, structures, geotechnical, drainage, track, systems, stations, depots, environmental, and utility disciplines.
Support Systems Engineering activities including requirements management, interface management, verification, validation, and design traceability.
Review Design and Construct tender documentation and contractor submissions related to railway alignment and corridor design.
Support value engineering, constructability assessments, and risk mitigation activities throughout project delivery.
Identify and manage technical, operational, environmental, and constructability risks associated with alignment design.
Ensure compliance with railway standards, client requirements, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
Provide technical leadership and support throughout project delivery.
Qualifications:
Relevant Engineering Degree (Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Railway Engineering, or equivalent).
Minimum 15 years of experience in the AECO industry or relevant field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in railway alignment design and delivery for major railway or transportation infrastructure projects.
Professional certification or membership with a recognized engineering institution is preferred.
Experience & Skills
Extensive experience in railway alignment design, corridor planning, and geometric design for passenger and freight rail systems.
Strong understanding of railway design standards, alignment optimization, track geometry, operational requirements, and constructability considerations.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary railway design interfaces across large-scale infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with international railway standards and industry best practices.
Proficiency in alignment design software such as OpenRail, Civil 3D, Bentley Rail Track, or equivalent.
Strong Systems Engineering, stakeholder management, and technical coordination skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical capabilities.
