Freedom Detox with Pyramid Healthcare is looking for a dependable and customer-focused Part-Time Cook to join our team in Gastonia, NC. If you enjoy preparing quality meals, take pride in your work, and appreciate a predictable daytime schedule, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact while maintaining an excellent work-life balance.

Our kitchen serves approximately 18–22 clients per meal in a supportive, low-stress healthcare environment. This position offers flexible scheduling, approximately 25 hours per week, no evening shifts, and the opportunity to work independently while being part of a compassionate team.

What You'll Do

As our Cook, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized kitchen.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.

• Ensure meals are prepared on time while maintaining quality, consistency, and presentation.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in accordance with food safety standards.

• Follow portion control guidelines and standardized recipes.

• Prepare meals that accommodate special dietary needs when required.

• Monitor and document food and equipment temperatures.

• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.

• Receive, rotate, and properly store food and supplies.

• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance concerns promptly.

• Maintain excellent customer service when interacting with clients, visitors, and fellow team members.

• Complete required cleaning tasks and documentation.

• Participate in required training and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Strong knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and kitchen safety.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

• Five (5) years of kitchen or commercial food service experience.

• Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, or institutional food service.

• ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).
