Overview
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for maximizing the reliability, availability, and performance of both existing and new production assets while leading and developing the Reliability team. The role focuses on reducing unplanned downtime, optimizing maintenance costs, improving asset performance, and ensuring compliance with maintenance standards and best practices.
By combining reliability engineering expertise, data-driven analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies, the Maintenance Lead Reliability identifies and eliminates root causes of asset failures, drives predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, and supports sustainable business performance. This position plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while enabling long-term asset and organizational sustainability.
Responsibilities
1. Asset Reliability and Availability (Decision/Execution)
Develop and implement reliability strategies, preventive maintenance programs, predictive maintenance techniques, and condition-based maintenance plans to maximize asset availability, improve OEE, and reduce unplanned downtime across the site.
2. Reliability Engineering and Failure Elimination (Decision/Execution)
Lead reliability engineering activities through Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), asset health assessments, and reliability studies to identify failure modes, eliminate recurring losses, and improve equipment performance.
3. Maintenance Cost and Asset Lifecycle Optimization (Decision/Execution)
Develop and maintain asset lifecycle strategies that optimize reliability, risk, maintainability, and total cost of ownership. Drive sustainable maintenance cost improvements through effective maintenance planning, spare parts optimization, and asset replacement strategies.
4. Maintenance Data Analytics and Digitalization (Decision/Execution)
Utilize CMMS data, operational performance metrics, predictive analytics, digital tools, IoT solutions, and asset health monitoring systems to identify improvement opportunities and enable data-driven maintenance decision making.
5. Reliability Capability Development (Decision/Execution)
Build organizational reliability capability by coaching technicians, supervisors, planners, and engineers in reliability methodologies, problem-solving techniques, maintenance best practices, and asset performance management.
6. Maintenance Standards and Technical Governance (Decision/Execution)
Develop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance standards, technical procedures, and best practices to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation of production assets.
7. Safety, Food Safety and Asset Integrity (Decision/Execution)
Embed safety and food safety principles into maintenance activities by ensuring compliance with permit-to-work requirements, Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO), machine safety standards, and regulatory obligations. Drive proactive safety behaviors through observations and near-miss reporting.
8. Reliability Support for Capital Projects (Consultation/Decision)
Provide maintenance and reliability expertise during capital projects, ensuring maintainability, reliability requirements, spare parts strategies, maintenance plans, and technical standards are integrated into asset design, commissioning, and handover processes.
9. GEHSMS Ownership and Compliance (Decision/Execution)
Act as site owner for designated GEHSMS standards, including EHS50 Machine & Equipment Safety and EHS45 Air Quality. Ensure compliance through governance, audits, corrective actions, risk assessments, and continuous improvement activities.
10. Reliability Performance Governance (Decision/Execution)
Establish, maintain, and review site reliability KPIs and dashboards, including OEE, MTBF, MTTR, asset health indicators, unplanned downtime, maintenance cost performance, energy efficiency, and predictive maintenance metrics. Define reliability improvement priorities and ensure execution of action plans to achieve operational and financial targets through data-driven decision making.
