Production Engineer

Overview

At Trinseo Tessenderlo, we are looking for a motivated and technically strong Production Engineer to strengthen our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be at the heart of our production operations, driving plant performance, solving complex process issues and implementing sustainable improvements.

You will work closely with operators, production coordinators, maintenance, reliability and technology teams to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective plant operations while continuously improving quality and productivity.

As a Production Engineer, you will take ownership of plant performance, support daily operations and lead initiatives that improve safety, quality, reliability and productivity.

Responsibilities

Production & Process Optimization

• Ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of the production units.
• Develop a thorough understanding of process technology, equipment and process control systems.
• Support daily production activities and optimize plant performance related to safety, quality, cost and throughput.
• Define and maintain optimal operating windows and run profiles.
• Monitor and analyze key process indicators and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Drive operational excellence through best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste and enhance environmental performance.

Troubleshooting & Problem Solving

• Lead or support advanced troubleshooting of process and production issues.
• Facilitate Root Cause Investigations and identify sustainable solutions.
• Coach operations personnel in structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Analyze production losses and define actions to close performance gaps.

Continuous Improvement & Projects

• Identify improvement opportunities and translate them into actionable projects.
• Act as plant representative for Management of Change (MOC) activities.
• Support and lead capital and plant improvement projects.
• Evaluate equipment and unit operation performance and proactively drive improvements.
• Review and prioritize process control and software modification requests.

Quality & Operational Excellence

• Ensure production procedures and operating practices meet quality requirements.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and performance monitoring.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce process and product improvements.
• Develop and deliver process-related training for plant personnel.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
• Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions arising from safety investigations and audits.
• Drive process safety and operational risk reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• A Bachelor's degree combined with relevant experience will also be considered.
• Experience in a production, process or manufacturing engineering role within the chemical industry is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of process control systems is an advantage.
