Security Officer

Location: Grand Junction, CO 81505
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday | 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
 

Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is seeking a dependable Unarmed Security Officer to provide overnight security coverage in Grand Junction, Colorado. This position requires a strong security presence, excellent communication, careful observation, and the ability to remain composed when responding to challenging situations.

The officer will conduct regular patrols, monitor security systems, assist with incidents, maintain accurate reports, and work closely with team members and authorized personnel. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable of remaining active throughout the shift, and comfortable working in an environment where professionalism and sound judgment are essential.
 

Key Responsibilities

Overnight Security Operations

• Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout assigned areas.
• Conduct routine foot patrols throughout buildings, surrounding areas, and designated property.
• Monitor entrances, exits, common areas, and other assigned locations.
• Identify unusual activity, safety concerns, unauthorized access, or conditions requiring attention.
• Follow established post orders, company procedures, and assignment requirements.
• Maintain consistent awareness of changing conditions throughout the overnight shift.
   

CCTV & Security Monitoring

• Monitor CCTV cameras and other assigned security systems.
• Recognize and appropriately respond to suspicious or unusual activity.
• Communicate security concerns to supervisors and designated personnel.
• Maintain accurate observations and provide relevant information during incidents.
• Report equipment or monitoring issues through the proper channels.
   

Incident Response & De-Escalation

• Respond promptly to disturbances, security concerns, alarms, and other incidents.
• Use professional communication and de-escalation techniques whenever appropriate.
• Remain calm and focused during stressful or rapidly changing situations.
• Follow established emergency procedures and supervisor direction.
• Request additional assistance when circumstances require it.
• Apply company procedures and applicable laws when addressing incidents.
   

Reporting & Communication

• Prepare clear and accurate daily activity reports.
• Document incidents, patrol findings, unusual observations, and safety concerns.
• Use assigned radio and communication equipment appropriately.
• Provide clear information to supervisors and other team members.
• Complete required documentation before the end of each shift.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information encountered while performing duties.
   

Team Support & Schedule Flexibility

• Work cooperatively with coworkers, supervisors, and authorized personnel.
• Contribute to a professional and supportive team environment.
• Assist with vacant shifts, vacation coverage, or other scheduling needs when available.
• Maintain dependable attendance and arrive prepared for each scheduled shift.
• Support operational needs while remaining within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
   

Required Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Previous security experience or relevant experience in a related field.
• Ability to successfully complete required background screening and assignment-specific requirements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations.
• Comfortable working independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to remain on your feet and walk for extended periods.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work the full overnight schedule of Wednesday through Sunday, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
   

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

• Security operations
• Law enforcement
• Military service
• Department of Corrections or related controlled environments
• Other comparable public-safety or protective-service roles
• CCTV or surveillance monitoring
• Incident documentation and report writing
• Conflict resolution and de-escalation
   

Training & Assignment Requirements

• Must successfully complete required Arrest Control Tactics (ACT) training.
• Must successfully complete required Taser training.
• Must meet all assignment-specific training and qualification standards.
• Must provide required immunization records or be willing to obtain necessary immunizations as required under the applicable contract.
