Description
- Supervises, directs, and schedules the work of assigned recreation staff and volunteers.
- Compiles, verifies, and posts employee payroll, including lifeguards, gym staff, swim team coaches, and custodians; tracks of absence request forms and ensures coverage the lifeguard requested leave; prepares bi-weekly schedules for lifeguards.
- Opens and closes facilities; ensures all assigned areas are safe and free of hazards; turns lights on/off and secures all facilities as required.
- Directs the patrolling of the pool and the enforcement of safety rules and regulations
- Supervises classes, workshops, and activities for persons engaged in aquatics programs and co-sponsored programs.
- Schedules and coordinates swim lessons and private swim lessons.
- Schedules in service training and lifeguard certification training per American Red Cross standards; ensures all lifeguards are appropriately certified; works as a lifeguard as needed.
- Schedules lifeguards for pool parties and other facility rentals and activities; fills in as lifeguard as needed.
- Creates advertisements and schedules for City facility rentals; maintains records of reservations and payments.
- Addresses and responds to customer service issues, needs, and concerns.
- Performs related duties as assigned or required.
- Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.

High school diploma or GED equivalent AND three (3) years of experience involving modern office equipment and procedures and computer usage; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be a Certified Lifeguard or obtain certification within 60 days of employment. Must be a Certified Lifeguard Instructor or obtain certification within 60 days of employment. Must be a Certified Pool Operator or obtain certification within 60 days of employment. Work is performed at City recreation and pool facilities and requires exposure to hazardous chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and potentially infectious diseases.
