ABOUT THIS ROLE
Job Summary:
Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant for a pivotal role within our Finance team — one that blends analytical precision with a broad understanding of financial operations. This position is central to executing month-end closing processes and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data for stand-alone legal entities. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with teams including Treasury, Operations, Technology, Accounts Payable, FP&A, and Legal. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker and seasoned accounting professional, adept at managing complex tasks, driving process improvements, and contributing to the overall financial health and operational success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closing procedures and ensure accurate financial reporting. Estimate, analyze, and record month-end expense accruals. Handle other accounting duties as assigned, including fixed asset management, intercompany expenses, and variance analysis.
- Account Reconciliation: Prepare detailed reconciliations for assigned accounts, proactively communicate daily status updates, and escalate issues as needed to ensure timely resolution.
- Centralized Process Execution: Manage and execute standardized accounting processes — such as, but not limited to, prepaid asset monitoring, fixed asset management, and bank reconciliations — across multiple legal entities, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and scalability under a process-centric operating model.
- Audit and Regulatory Support: Provide supporting documentation, schedules, and financial data to the Regulatory Reporting team and external auditors as needed for regulatory filings, financial statement audits, and regulatory examinations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements to accounting workflows and internal controls to minimize risk, reduce manual processes, and improve operational efficiency, including leveraging AI to develop automations.
- Project Participation: Actively contribute to firmwide and departmental projects and initiatives, occasionally serving as project lead to drive operational improvements.
- Training and Supervision: Train team members on accounting processes and procedures. Conduct supervisory reviews of internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy. Actively participate in cross-training with team members across functional areas to provide backup coverage and build overall team resiliency.
- Operational Support: Serve as a resource and backup to department management and accounting staff for daily and ad-hoc tasks as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
- 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably at a clearing or investment firm, proprietary trading firm, bank, or trust company.
- Experience managing the full accounting cycle at the entity level, with broad exposure across the trial balance rather than a single function. Ability to conduct variance analysis, identify trends and discrepancies, and articulate findings clearly.
