Finning, the world's largest Caterpillar dealer, is looking for a Service Planner to join our Fort McMurray team.

In this role, you'll be the key connection between our customers and service operations team, helping plan, coordinate, and manage equipment repairs and rebuild projects from start to finish. You'll work closely with customers, technicians, supervisors, and support teams to ensure repairs are accurately scoped, properly scheduled, and completed on time and within budget.

Job Description:

Customer Management & Service Planning

• Serve as the primary contact for customers throughout the repair and rebuild process.
• Gather information and assess service requirements to develop accurate repair scopes.
• Create detailed estimates and quotes for equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Provide recommendations and solutions for customer service requests.
• Communicate timelines, progress updates, and repair status throughout the project.
• Manage scope changes, schedules, budgets, and customer expectations.
• Support warranty-related repairs and service inquiries.

Project Coordination

• Develop work plans, resource requirements, and repair schedules.
• Coordinate with shop supervisors, technicians, and support teams to ensure work is completed efficiently.
• Participate in planning and scheduling meetings to keep projects on track.
• Monitor repair progress and proactively resolve issues that may impact completion dates.
• Identify lessons learned and opportunities for continuous improvement following project completion.

Collaboration & Communication

• Act as the voice of the customer within the service organization.
• Partner with Product Support, Equipment Sales, Service Operations, Parts, and Administrative teams.
• Coordinate with stakeholders across the Finning network to ensure equipment and components move efficiently through the repair process.
• Maintain strong communication with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in equipment service, maintenance, parts, warranty, repair planning, or a related field.
• Previous experience working with Caterpillar equipment, heavy equipment, engines, or industrial machinery.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of repair processes.
• Experience developing estimates, quotes, and service plans.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.

Assets

• Blue Seal Certification.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or formal project management training.
• Experience with warranty administration or repair costing.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar products and equipment.
