The New School is seeking two part-time, 10 months per year, Student Health Counselors who are licensed clinical psychologists to provide clinical supervision of doctoral-level psychology students, crisis intervention, short-term therapy, and case management to both graduate and undergraduate degree seeking students. We are seeking candidates who are highly skilled clinicians who have experience working with individuals with diverse identities and have experience with clinical supervision. This position reports directly to the Director of Counseling.
These positions are part of the Student Health Employees at the New School (SHENS-UAW) Union. The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the New School and SHENS-UAW.
CORE CAPABILITIES, PRIMARY DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide crisis intervention, assessment, short-term individual and group therapy, and case management to university students
Work with students in crisis and those with trauma histories, including racialized and other trauma related to identity.
Supervise PhD psychology externs and MSW interns
Connect with collateral contacts including hospitals, community providers, faculty and staff, as appropriate
Assist with wellness outreach to university students, staff, and faculty
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team within Student Health Services including: psychiatry, medical, and public health
Participate actively in staff meetings and in weekly supervision.
Maintain timely, appropriate and accurate records and correspondence related to students served
Attend workshops, training seminars and university meetings as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D or Psy.D in psychology
Current licensure to practice in New York State
Clinical supervision experience
Some evening hours required
WORK MODE
This position is 100% in-person on campus during fall and spring semesters #LI-Onsite
10-month per year position
Winter break will afford opportunities for some remote work hours.
HOURLY RATE
$55.44/hour
