Job Description

To oversee the management of third-party and outsourcing risks across FirstRand Group. The role ensures that all third-party relationships are managed in line with the FRG TPRM Risk Framework, SARB Directive 8/2022, King IV governance principles, and Basel operational risk standards. This position also includes managing an operational team responsible for third-party onboarding, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring. Drive consistency, governance, and performance across all third-party risk activities, ensuring the bank’s third-party ecosystem remains secure, compliant, and aligned to business objectives.

• Implement and maintain the third-party Risk Management Framework and supporting policies.
• Conduct and oversee third party due diligence, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring for all critical and high-risk service providers.
• Ensure adherence to outsourcing standards, including service level agreements (SLAs), key risk indicators (KRIs), and performance metrics.
• Work with Enterprise Risk management, Legal, Compliance, Procurement, Information Security, and Business Units to ensure comprehensive third-party governance.
• Review and challenge third-party risk assessments conducted by business units to ensure completeness and consistency.
• Support the Group Outsourcing Committee and Risk Committees with periodic reports and escalation of material risk issues.
• Lead and manage a team of operational analysts and coordinators responsible for third party-risk reviews, contract compliance, and onboarding activities.
• Allocate workloads, monitor deliverables, and ensure quality and timeliness of outputs.
• Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
• Develop and mentor staff to build capacity and enhance third-party risk capability across the team.
• Continuously improve tools, templates, and workflows for greater efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with SARB outsourcing directives, King IV, and Basel operational risk standards.
• Support internal and external audit reviews, ensuring timely remediation of findings.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and audit trails for all third-party governance activities.
• Stay abreast of regulatory developments and industry best practices in third-party risk management.
• Ensure Policies and procedures are current and UpToDate.
• Build strong relationships with business units, risk teams, and service providers to support proactive risk identification and mitigation.
• Engage with key internal stakeholders to communicate risk insights and develop pragmatic risk treatment plans.
• Represent Third-Party Risk at governance and steering committee meetings when required.
