Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Telemetry Tech, you will be a vital part of our patient care team, expertly monitoring and interpreting ECG rhythms in acute care and emergency settings. You'll be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy of patient reports, troubleshooting equipment with precision, and demonstrating unwavering accountability for our organization's mission and core values. Every day you will continually monitor patients on telemetry, accurately recording ECG changes, and swiftly reporting critical developments to the appropriate personnel. You'll skillfully troubleshoot equipment issues, communicate effectively with your team leader, and ensure meticulous documentation and confidential maintenance of patient charts. Your attention to detail will be key in maintaining inventory, cleaning transmitters after use, and proactively identifying and addressing malfunctioning equipment to uphold the highest standards of cardiac monitoring. To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent organizational skills, clear verbal and interpersonal communication abilities, strong customer relations acumen, impeccable grammar and spelling, and the capacity to read and comprehend written instructions while also following verbal directives efficiently.
- Responsible for observation and documentation of patient’s cardiac rhythm: every shift, when an arrhythmia occurs, and on each new patient as they are placed on telemetry.
- RN to cosign patient’s documented rhythm.
- Recognizes and notifies RN immediately when life threatening arrhythmia occurs.
- Promptly responds to all monitor alarms according to department/hospital policy.
- Documents all communication to care givers.
- Ensures central monitor is never left unattended.
- Ensures all patients on telemetry are connected to central monitor and alarms are appropriately set.
- Maintains patient EKG records in systematic organized fashion.
- Files EKG reports into charts as needed.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Basic clerical, computer data entry and math skills.
- Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association.
Preferred
- One (1) year of acute care experience.
- Telemetry experience.
