The goal of Damen Song Cam is to develop, design and construct a portfolio of tugboats and high-speed crafts in the most effective and efficient manner, primarily based on standardized and smart-customized designs. Damen Song Cam addresses current and emerging market demands through a balanced focus on quality, service, price and delivery time, thereby providing optimal solutions for clients. Our vessels are produced at our shipyard in Zone Hoang Lam 1, Thien Huong Ward, Hai Phong City, Vietnam, as well as in cooperation with Damen locations in countries including Singapore, China, Turkey and the Netherlands. 

Finance division is the combination of Accounting department, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department, Shared Services Center (SSC) department and Customs department.

Customs department implements all import and export activities in the most optimal cost and complied Customs regulation.

The role 

As Customs Staff, you are responsible for carrying out import and export activities in compliance with Vietnamese customs regulations and the requirements of the Customs Authorities. You coordinate the movement of goods and vessels between ports and Damen Song Cam Shipyard, while supporting timely clearance and cost-efficient logistics operations. 

You work closely with the Customs Department, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Warehouse, Finance, forwarders, suppliers and customs authorities. The role contributes to selecting and working with qualified service providers to achieve the appropriate balance of service quality, lead time, and cost.   

Key responsibilities: 

As Customs Staff, your main responsibilities are: 

• Check shipping documents and ensure that information is complete, accurate, and consistent before customs declaration. 
• Monitor import shipment status and prioritize clearance activities according to arrival dates to prevent delays and avoid unnecessary costs. 
• Prepare appropriate Vietnamese goods descriptions and determine HS codes for imported and exported goods. 
• Prepare customs dossiers for applicable import-export regimes, including processing, commercial, non-commercial, and investment activities. 
• Complete import and export declarations through the ECUS customs declaration system and process relevant transactions in SAP. 
• Arrange the delivery of customs-cleared goods to the Damen Song Cam warehouse. 
• Coordinate with forwarders on export bookings, document submission and shipment follow-up. 
• Review monthly inventory transactions and support reconciliation for customs finalization reporting. 
• Coordinate with Warehouse, suppliers and Customs Authorities regarding scrap handling and alignment with customs records. 
• Periodically review Bills of Materials and contribute to the preparation of customs finalization reports. 
• Support the continuous improvement and standardization of import-export procedures. 
• Identify compliance risks, maintain accurate records, and support corrective or preventive actions when required. 
• Perform other duties assigned by the Customs Manager. 

Skills & experience 

To be successful in this role, you bring: 

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Logistics, International Trade, Customs, Supply Chain, Business Administration or another relevant field. 
• At least five years of relevant experience in logistics and/or customs operations within a manufacturing company, freight forwarder or similar environment. 
• Strong knowledge of Vietnamese customs regulations, import-export procedures, HS-code classification and Incoterms. 
• Practical experience preparing customs dossiers and declarations; experience with ECUS and SAP is an advantage. 
• Good command of English across listening, speaking, reading and writing. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify key information, connect data, and propose practical solutions. 
• Good planning and organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines. 
• Proactive working style and the ability to take ownership without unnecessary supervision. 
• Good proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Power BI is an advantage. 
• High attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to legal and regulatory compliance.
