Senior Business Intelligence Specialist

Mission Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Specialist for a consultancy mission at a client site, representing Keystone Solutions. The project involves enhancing the analytical capabilities of Mon Espace, utilizing various data sources to create reports and dashboards for effective management.

Objectives:

The high-level objective is to increase the analytical capabilities of Mon Espace by implementing business intelligence components to:

• Connect to data sources
• Retrieve useful data from these sources
• Transform the retrieved data to meet the requirements of the destination database (filtering, merging, aggregation, format changes, etc.)
• Inject the transformed data into a decision-making database (DDB)
• Utilize a BI tool to analyze and exploit the data
• Produce reports and dashboards using the BI tool

Based on the analysis of the data and sources to be integrated, an initial modeling of the decision-making database has been created in Power BI. This mission will continue the work by integrating new data sources.

Approach:

The Service & Delivery Management (SDM) Department of SPW Digital aims to establish a Decision Support System fed by various data from our services, allowing internal users to perform cross-analyses for reporting purposes: KPI calculation, statistics production, dashboards, and alert management.

The project will be conducted experimentally by the SDM, using its own resources, in collaboration with other SPW Digital services. The goal is to create a POC implementing the six dimensions identified in the objectives. The POC will deliver a report summarizing the main indicators of ma.Wallonie, which may later evolve into a dynamic dashboard.

The experimental mode involves:

• Learning by doing
• Progressing through trial and error
• Taking risks and accepting the possibility of failure
• Close collaboration among stakeholders

The SDM will be responsible for:

• Project management and steering committee facilitation
• Identifying data to be retrieved
• Building data transformation processes
• Feeding the decision-making database (destination DB)
• Exploiting the data
• Producing reports and dashboards

We will utilize tools set up on SPW Digital servers: ETL, BI, decision-making DB, or install necessary tools locally on PCs.

Expected Activities & Deliverables:

The work to be performed by the Business Intelligence team will include:

• Workshops and brainstorming sessions
• Understanding concepts (form, process, submission, etc.) and rationalizing them
• Analyzing available sources and data
• Reviewing existing reports (created in Excel and SAP BO)
• Modeling the decision-making database (conceptual model/star schema) integrating various data sources
• Finalizing a POC locally on a PC with Power BI Desktop to:
• Extract (E) and integrate useful data from available sources
• Transform (T) the data to meet the destination DB requirements
• Load (L) the transformed data into the decision-making database (DDB)
• Consult the DDB and exploit its data: producing reports and dashboards
• Extending and industrializing the POC on the DB/network infrastructure provided by SPW (CSID Team – Decision Support / Data Pole), in the cloud or locally.
• Analyzing/designing and automating integration with data sources and supplier back-offices of the DWH.

We are looking for a team of specialists capable of:

• Understanding the available data from various sources
• Interpreting provided documentation (especially database schemas)
• Reviewing existing reports (Excel and BI)
• Linking these data and analyzing consolidation needs
• Designing the structure of the DDB
• Developing the associated data warehouse
• Creating loading procedures and consultation tools; documenting the work performed

Soft Skills:

We seek an enterprising, autonomous individual who can work well in a team. Strong communication skills (oral and written), assertiveness, and active listening are essential. A perfect command of French is required. The candidate should possess a strategic vision, both theoretical and practical, critical thinking, and synthesis skills. They should be able to analyze problems and synthesize detailed and complex information in writing, through Excel tables, and PowerPoint presentations. A pragmatic approach to problem-solving and solutions is necessary, along with the ability to propose and implement solutions based on experience, context, stakes, and stakeholders. Effective work planning, stress resistance, and the ability to organize work considering deadlines and priorities are also important.

Evaluation Method:

Screening based on CVs and organization of interviews in front of a jury, either remotely or in person.
