Responsibilities
The primary goal is satisfying customer requirements of quality, quantity, and delivery, in a safe manner, while maximizing productivity. Specifically, the Buyer is responsible for purchasing and negotiation of materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. These activities include but are not limited to: acting as the liaison at all levels between corporate, estimating, engineering, jobsites, remote offices, and services/spare parts and coordinating activities with manufacturing, engineering, sales and accounting.
Other responsibilities
- Approves the choice of vendors and authorizes purchase orders based on business needs
- Research, identify and evaluate potential vendors and facilitate vendor selection
- Estimates fabricated mechanical and electrical components for entire organization
- Follow internal control procurement policies and procedures
- Develop specific annual purchasing objectives for assigned areas including cost reduction and quality improvement
- Prepares detailed cost tables to justify bidding, outsourcing and budgetary goals, and documentation to support budgetary and estimating requirements
- Perform other duties as directed
Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer literacy is a requirement. (Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Word)
- Purchasing type MRP system (SAP) knowledge preferred
Education and Experience
- Minimum 1 year purchasing, sourcing, or planning experience.
- Motivated individual capable of learning and working as a team to procure parts, components, and services.
- Must be willing to service internal customers.
- Ambitious, eager and hard working.
