About the Opportunity
Postdoctoral Associate – Gene Therapy and Transport Modeling
Bajpayee Lab at Northeastern is seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Associate to lead high-impact research in cartilage-targeted gene delivery within a fast-paced, NIH-funded and industry-collaborative environment. This position is designed for top-tier, self-driven scientists who can independently execute, manage multiple projects, and deliver at a high level.
This work integrates gene therapy, chemical conjugation, and quantitative transport modeling to engineer charge-guided delivery systems for dense, negatively charged tissues.
What You Will Do
- Lead multiple projects across federal and industry-funded programs
- Design and engineer gene delivery systems using chemical conjugation and molecular engineering
- Quantitatively analyze transport, partitioning, and binding kinetics in biological matrices
- Conduct and contribute to in vivo studies in musculoskeletal models
- Independently write and publish high-impact manuscripts
- Train and mentor students while driving projects forward
- Manage project budgets and presentations
Who You Are
- PhD with a strong first-author publication record
- Expertise in chemical conjugation, biomaterials, or drug/gene delivery
- Experience with quantitative modeling (transport, kinetics, or related)
- Comfortable working with animal models
- Highly motivated, accountable, and able to manage multiple projects independently
Ideal Candidates
- Experience with gene delivery (mRNA, DNA, CRISPR)
- Background in cartilage, ECM transport, or polyelectrolyte systems
