The Blade Fleet Repair Engineering People Leader sits at the intersection of field-proven repair technology and fleet-wide execution, ensuring that our wind turbine blades remain safe, reliable, and structurally sound throughout their operational life. This role is responsible for leading the standard work documentation, approval, and continuous improvement of blade repair methods, owning key repair engineering tools, and building a high-performing team that partners closely with global deployment and field execution organizations to keep the fleet running at peak performance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Repair Plan Leadership: Own the Level 2 (L2) repair definition and repair approval process for blade damage across the global fleet, ensuring repairs meet structural, safety, and quality standards.
• Technical Documentation Ownership: Create, maintain, and continuously improve Work Instructions (WDI), Service Instructions (SI), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for repairs, incorporating field feedback and lessons learned.
• Repair Tooling & Technology: Own the Laminate Repair Tool, driving its development, validation, and ongoing enhancement to support consistent, high-quality repair execution across the fleet.
• Deployment & Field Execution: Work directly with the deployment team and regional execution teams to roll out improved repair methods, ensuring successful field implementation and adoption across all regions.
• Continuous Improvement & Kaizen: Drive continuous improvement and Kaizen initiatives to improve repair quality, reduce cycle time, and lower cost, underwriting outcomes against Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with blade structures engineering, materials engineering, test labs, sourcing, field services, and suppliers to develop and validate repair solutions that meet fleet performance requirements.
• Team Leadership & Development: Build a strong team by attracting, developing, and retaining top engineering talent. Create a culture of empowerment, coaching, and continuous talent development, while prioritizing team resources according to SQDC principles.
• Knowledge Sharing: Ensure teams share best practices, tools, and lessons learned across the broader repair engineering and fleet services organization. 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in composite structures, structural repair engineering, or blade engineering.

Desired Characteristics:

• Advanced degree (Master's) in Structural Engineering, Composite Mechanics, or related field.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to synthesize data from testing, field performance, and manufacturing.
• Experience partnering with cross-functional and regional teams in a global, matrixed environment.
• Demonstrated experience developing technical repair documentation (WDI/SI/SOP or equivalent) and repair approval processes.
• Familiarity with composite repair techniques, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods, and blade structural analysis.
• Experience facilitating Kaizen events or leading Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives (Lean Six Sigma certification a plus).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical trade-offs to diverse stakeholders across regions.
• Passionate about energy transition and committed to accelerating GE Vernova's mission through technical innovation and field execution excellence.

Additional Information

 

 

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
