What we need:
As a Senior Project Manager, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy to drive the complete lifecycle of a portfolio of medium to large, highly complex, and strategically critical projects. This role is pivotal in aligning project outcomes with enterprise-level business goals and serving as a key leader within the Technical Program Management Office.
Your Day to Day:
- Strategic Planning: Lead the intake and planning for large-scale, cross-functional initiatives. You will partner with senior leadership and technical leads to define objectives, deliverables, and strategic boundaries, overseeing forecasting and resource allocation using Jira and Clarizen.
- Complex Project Delivery: Direct multiple high-visibility projects simultaneously, ensuring strategic alignment, on-time delivery, and strict budget adherence. Maintain comprehensive, executive-ready documentation, including charters, schedules, RAID logs, and status reports.
- Enterprise Leadership: Serve as the central leader for highly matrixed teams across IT, Data Science, DevOps, and other business units. Drive alignment, resolve critical roadblocks, and facilitate executive steering committee meetings.
- Advanced Risk & Change Management: Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate complex, enterprise-level risks. Lead comprehensive change management strategies to ensure operational readiness and seamless adoption of new technologies.
- Methodology Leadership: Champion and refine the use of Iterative Waterfall and Agile methodologies to optimize delivery from engineering teams and improve internal processes at BCBSMA.
- Executive Communication: Expertly translate complex technical requirements into high-level business strategy, ensuring a shared, unified vision between executive stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Mentorship & Process Improvement: Provide active mentorship and guidance to other Project Managers. Spearhead initiatives to continuously improve the project management discipline across the organization.
We’re Looking for:
- Experience: 10+ years of proven project management experience, with a strong track record of autonomously delivering large, complex enterprise technology projects.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certification: PMP or similar advanced project management certification is highly preferred.
- Methodologies: Expert-level knowledge of Iterative Waterfall and extensive experience integrating it with Agile frameworks.
- Core Skills: Advanced analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities. Proven success in managing competing priorities and driving data-driven decisions.
- Communication: Exceptional executive-level communication and facilitation skills, with a demonstrated ability to articulate a compelling vision and present complex project statuses to leadership.

Full timeSalary Range: $143,100.00 - $174,900.00The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.
This job is also eligible for variable pay.
