Description

Help students discover what's possible. Build a career center that's redefining careers.

Brandeis University is launching a bold new approach to career development as part of its vision to Reinvent the Liberal Arts. We're creating an integrated career center that serves undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni by connecting academic learning with career exploration, internships, employer partnerships, and lifelong career support. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and help shape the future of career education at one of the nation's leading liberal arts research universities.

We're expanding our undergraduate career team and hiring 4 new Career Counselors. All counselors work with students across a wide range of majors and career interests while also developing  an area of emphasis within one of our industry hubs:

  • Business, Consulting & Finance, including corporate careers, business strategy, consulting, finance, accounting, and marketing

  • Government, Public Policy & Social Impact, including social sciences and public service careers

  • Science Research, including the physical and life sciences

  • Healthcare & Health Professions, including community health and professional healthcare

  • Technology & Innovation, including engineering, software, data, product management, entrepreneurship, and startups

Experience or an academic background in one of these areas is helpful but not required. We provide extensive onboarding, mentoring, and professional development to help every counselor build expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Career Development

Provide career counseling to undergraduate students and alumni through every stage of the career development process, while supporting graduate students as needed. Help students explore career options, make informed decisions, identify strengths, set goals, conduct career and graduate school research, and navigate internship and job searches. Apply career development theory and best practices to meet individual student needs. Teach career courses by developing course materials, facilitating engaging classroom instruction, and assessing student learning. Maintain knowledge in career resources, and employment trends, while staying current on labor market data, recruiting practices, and emerging career opportunities.

Campus Engagement

Build strong partnerships with faculty, staff, and campus partners to advance the mission of the Career Center. Collaborate across the university to develop innovative programs, workshops, and events that integrate career development into the student experience. Create engaging career resources, presentations, student communications, and online content that supports career readiness and encourages student engagement.

Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of work experience, or a Master’s degree with up to 1 year of work experience, is required. Prior experience working with youth or young adults, teaching, coaching, or customer service is preferred. Experience working with a broad range of student populations is preferred. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities, are required.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Join a growing, forward-thinking career center during an exciting period of transformation

  • Teach, coach, and mentor students while building innovative career education programs

  • Collaborate with faculty, alumni, and employers across the university

  • Receive support for professional development, conference attendance, certifications, and leadership opportunities

  • Work on a collaborative team that values creativity, continuous learning, and student success

Work Environment: Brandeis combines the educational model of a liberal arts college with the resources of a research university. At our core, we are a medium-sized residential campus that provides a robust in-person experience for students and community members. Career staff work 35 hours per week on a hybrid schedule, with flexible hours when available. Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required.

Benefits: We invest in our staff. Career counselors receive ongoing training, mentorship, support for professional certifications, conference attendance, and opportunities to become leaders in the career services profession. Brandeis also offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, and work-life balance. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance; retirement savings; tuition assistance; employee discounts; voluntary insurance options; and free campus parking.

Hiring Salary Ranges: $62,800 - $67,900
