Job Summary:
As a Project Engineer within the Lifecycle Performance Services (LPS) team, you will contribute to maintenance and modification projects for material handling systems, from customer request through to realisation. This is a varied role for someone with solid engineering experience who is ready to further develop in project management, communication, leadership and commercial thinking.
You will work on both proposals and project execution, with approximately 50% of the role focused on quotations, and 50% focused on project delivery. Your aim will be to translate customer needs into practical, technically sound solutions while keeping oversight of scope, budget, planning, quality and risk.
You will be part of a team of more than 12 colleagues and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers with different areas of expertise. Project timelines can range from 3 months to 1.5 years, and you may manage 4 to 10 processes (Quotations or projects in parallel, depending on phase, complexity and size.
Job Responsibilities:
• Sales engineering activities for modifications and expansions
• Translate customer specifications into technical functional designs
• Prepare and support quotations for maintenance and modification projects
• Project management of small and medium-sized projects from request to realisation
• Identify, assess and mitigate project risks
• Build strong customer relationships and act solution-oriented in case of deviations or conflicts
• Monitor project budget, schedule, quality and scope of delivery
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and support clear communication between stakeholders
• Maintain overview across several projects and act proactively when priorities shift
• Contribute to successful project execution through a results-focused and pragmatic approach
What you need to succeed in the role:
• Several years of experience in engineering, preferably within Material Handling Systems
• A technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred
• Experience with systems engineering is preferred
• Ability to lead project teams and engage professionally with customers, or the ambition to develop further in this area
• Broad technical knowledge and the ability to identify technical risks
• Experience reading technical documentation, including drawings, diagrams and specifications
• Strong organisational, communication and technical skills
• Result-driven, proactive and able to keep overview in a dynamic project environment
• Solution-oriented, pragmatic and able to persevere when projects require extra focus
• Flexible, hands-on and confident in building relationships with customers and colleagues
• Proficiency English; Dutch and German are a plus.
Additional Details:
• Hybrid working model, including 3 days per week in our Houten office
• Regular travel is required, approximately 15% of the time, as the role supports international projects and customer locations
