Job Description

The Douglas D. Schumann School of Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for a position in Biomedical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor.

We invite applications to teach in all areas of Biomedical Engineering. Please email Associate Dean Anuja Kamat [email protected] if you have any questions

Teaching responsibilities for these positions will include lecture and laboratory courses. The standard load for the position is 12 credit hours per semester for the fall and spring semesters.

Faculty members are expected to work collaboratively and interdependently within a small group, deliver courses that integrate their areas of expertise, engage in an active research and scholarship agenda, advise students, and meet service obligations (school, university, and community). Lastly, the ability to demonstrate both methodological and pedagogical flexibility is also expected to meet the demands of our students and the evolving profession.

Applicant qualifications include a Ph. D in Biomedical Engineering.

The position includes a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary. Benefits are described briefly HR: https://wit.edu/careers/work-wentworth

The anticipated hiring range for this two-semester appointment is $103,000–$114,000. The range reflects relevant disciplinary market data and Wentworth’s faculty compensation structure. Individual starting salaries are determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, rank, and internal equity.

This position comes with a 10% retirement contribution (no matching required) according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Wentworth Faculty Federation.

Wentworth uses a three-semester per year schedule. The faculty contracts are for two semesters (fall and spring) with optional summer teaching which is paid on a prorated basis of the provided two-semester salary. This means the annual compensation could reach 1.5 times the provided two-semester salary depending on availability of summer classes.

Please be aware that any final offer for this position is contingent on the applicant providing valid I-9 documentation, showing work authorization and identity. For those requiring H-1B sponsorship, any offer of employment/filing of an H-1B petition will also be contingent on a determination that the petition is not subject to the $100,000 fee under the Presidential Proclamation 'Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers' (effective Sept. 21, 2025).
