Description

We are a values-focused organisation, who put the people we support, first. Established in 1982 by a group of local parents who wanted respite and accommodation for their now adult children, we have expanded exponentially because our participants love our services.

At Community Living Options we provide an inclusive environment where people are valued and supported. We welcome applicants with lived experience, all abilities, cultural background, gender, sexuality, age and spirituality.

Join our Child and Youth Services team. This is not your typical Youth worker role. You will be supporting young people with Autism, ADHD, OCD, intellectual disabilities, and trauma backgrounds. Working under the guidance of a dedicated Team Leader, you will deliver specialist, trauma-informed care and support that empowers young people, promotes positive outcomes, and has been proven to make a lasting difference in their lives.

Every young person is unique. You may be supporting young people to develop life skills, participate in recreational activities, build social connections, access education or employment opportunities, and navigate daily challenges while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

We are looking for Youth Workers who live in the southern suburbs and are passionate about supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes. You will play a key role in delivering trauma-informed, person-centred support and making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

About the Role

At Community Living Options, we believe values drive behaviour. We are looking for people who genuinely align with our values and are committed to helping young people thrive.

  • Values-driven individuals who put people first and believe in a human rights-based approach.
  • Compassionate and patient team members who build positive and respectful relationships with young people.
  • People who are resilient, adaptable and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Individuals who encourage choice, independence and personal growth.
  • Strong communicators who can collaborate with families, support networks and professionals.
  • Reliable and accountable team members who contribute to a safe, positive and inclusive environment.
  • Experienced youth workers as well as individuals new to the sector who are eager to learn and develop.

This includes:

  • Support young people to achieve their personal goals and aspirations.
  • Assist with developing daily living and independent living skills.
  • Support community participation, social inclusion and recreational activities.
  • Implement individual support plans and strategies.
  • Promote safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships based on trust and respect.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Support young people using person-centred and strengths-based approaches.

We offer a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and overnight supports, to meet the needs of the young people we support across northern and southern suburbs.

Who We’re Looking For

Whether you are an experienced Youth Worker or looking to begin a rewarding career supporting young people, we want to hear from you if you share our values.

If connection, inclusion, trust, learning and kindness are important to you, and you are passionate about helping young people reach their potential, CLO will support you to develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

Ideal candidates may have:

  • Experience supporting young people with mental health needs and trauma backgrounds.
  • Background in disability support work and/or mental health.
  • Confidence with risk management, safety protocols, and incident reporting.
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, active nights, and sleepovers.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

What You'll Need to Thrive in This Role

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
  • Qualification IV in Youth Work, Community Services, Disability, Individual Support or a related field
