Master Production Scheduler (Manufacturing)
This opportunity is with a well-established North American manufacturer in the Food and Beverage Industry seeking a planning professional to coordinate production and purchasing activities in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The position works closely with Operations, Procurement, Logistics and Finance to ensure materials and production schedules support customer demand while maintaining efficient inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute short-term production and purchasing schedules using an ERP planning system.
- Monitor planning exceptions daily and resolve issues that could impact production or customer service.
- Release production and purchasing orders while maintaining accurate sequencing and scheduling.
- Build production schedules that balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, line efficiency, planned maintenance, qualifications and other operational requirements.
- Provide operations with clear visibility to daily production schedules.
- Leverage system planning tools to balance production capacity across manufacturing lines.
- Support new product introductions and material transitions while minimizing excess inventory and obsolete materials.
- Optimize inventory levels in accordance with established production strategies and operating guidelines.
- Review future planned orders on an ongoing basis and make proactive adjustments when appropriate.
- Maintain planning parameters within established planning windows and ensure schedule changes are properly documented and approved.
- Maintain accurate ERP master data, including routine review of inventory planning parameters and safety stock settings.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in production planning, master scheduling, purchasing, or supply chain planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong SAP (or comparable ERP) and Microsoft Excel skills.
- Analytical, data-driven decision maker with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process optimization.
- Business acumen and sound judgment when balancing customer service, production efficiency and inventory.
