Job Description Summary
The Medical Assistant II supports the delivery of high-quality, standardized patient care across clinic locations within an assigned region. This role performs a broad range of clinical and administrative duties while serving as a flexible resource to support clinical pathway initiatives, operational consistency, and patient access across practices.The Medical Assistant II travels regularly between designated clinics to support clinical workflow optimization and ensure adherence to standardized clinical pathways. Working under the direct supervision of a physician or other licensed provider, the incumbent partners with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient patient care, accurate documentation, and a consistent patient experience throughout the region.
This position works independently on routine assignments and moderately complex tasks under general supervision. Decisions impact patient flow, care team effectiveness, clinical pathway compliance, and operational outcomes across multiple clinic sites. The role requires adaptability, strong organizational skills, and the ability to quickly integrate into varying clinical environments.
How will you make an impact & Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Patient Care
- Travel to assigned clinics throughout the region to provide direct clinical support based on operational needs, patient volumes, and clinical pathway initiatives.
- Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, review medication and health history information, and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Perform patient outreach, follow-up activities, documentation updates, order preparation, referral coordination, and other care pathway-related tasks.
- Support implementation and adherence to standardized clinical pathways and best practices across multiple outpatient locations.
Regional Clinical Pathway Support
- Serve as a clinical resource to promote consistency in patient care processes, documentation standards, and workflow execution throughout the region.
- Assist clinic teams with pathway adoption, workflow transitions, and process improvement initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Monitor for gaps in visit preparation, clinical documentation, patient care coordination, and pathway compliance, escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Collaborate with clinic leadership and care teams to identify workflow opportunities and support standardization efforts across sites.
Clinic Operations & Readiness
- Maintain examination rooms, equipment, instruments, supplies, and treatment areas in a clean, safe, and patient-ready condition.
- Support medication, vaccine, and supply management workflows by monitoring inventory, preparing materials, documenting usage, and reporting shortages.
- Ensure readiness of clinical spaces and adherence to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory requirements across assigned locations.
- Adapt quickly to differing clinic workflows while maintaining organizational standards and patient care expectations.
Team Support & Collaboration
- Build effective working relationships with providers, nurses, and support staff across multiple clinic locations.
- Promote a positive patient experience and foster teamwork across regional clinic operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 1-3 years of medical assistant, patient care support, or ambulatory clinical experience.
- Working knowledge of ambulatory care workflows, patient rooming, clinical documentation, infection control, specimen handling, and point-of-care testing.
- Experience using electronic health record systems, clinical equipment, scheduling or tasking tools, and standard office technology.
- Basic Life Support certification preferred
- Strong patient service, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills with the ability to manage recurring clinical support work independently.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly between assigned clinic locations throughout the region.
- Flexibility to support varying clinic schedules, staffing needs, and regional operational priorities.
