Job Description Summary

The Bramble Project is a complex engineering delivery project within GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage business. As Junior Project Manager, you will support the Project Manager in coordinating engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, supplier, integration and test activities to deliver agreed scope safely, on time and within budget.
This is a development role for an early-career project professional. You will take ownership of defined work packages and project-management activities, build confidence in customer and supplier interfaces, and develop capability across planning, cost, risk, change and governance. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team and be expected to bring structure, pace and follow-through to delivery.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

•  Support the Bramble Project Manager with day-to-day delivery and take ownership of defined work packages, actions and project-management activities.

•  Coordinate multi-disciplinary activity across engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, project controls, suppliers and test teams, ensuring priorities, dependencies and interfaces are understood.

•  Work with planning and project controls to maintain delivery plans, milestones and short-term lookaheads; identify emerging schedule pressures and support recovery actions.

•  Maintain project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, actions, decisions and change records, driving owners to timely closure and escalating where required.

•  Prepare project reviews, customer and internal progress packs, meeting minutes, action trackers and concise status reporting; progressively lead defined elements of reviews and meetings.

-        Identify opportunities for improvement and ways to implement LEAN into project processes and reporting, suggesting / creating meaningful changes where available

•  Support cost control and forecasting activities, including commitments, purchase orders, estimate-to-complete inputs, invoice milestones and SAP data quality, working with Finance and Project Controls.

•  Monitor supplier progress against agreed dates, support supplier reviews and visits, follow up actions and help resolve delivery blockers with Sourcing, Quality and Engineering.

•  Support design, manufacturing, integration and test readiness activities, ensuring project evidence, actions and dependencies are visible and progressed through the appropriate governance gates.

•  Support customer communications and change-control activities under the direction of the Project Manager, maintaining accurate records of commitments, decisions and contractual correspondence.

•  Ensure work is carried out in accordance with GE Vernova requirements for safety, quality, security, configuration, project governance and business processes, while contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvement.

You are an organised, proactive project professional who enjoys working in a technical delivery environment. You are comfortable coordinating people and information, asking the right questions, following actions through to completion and communicating clearly with colleagues, suppliers and customers. You will be keen to learn and ready to take increasing ownership as your capability develops. You have a desire to see things through to completion and ensure the highest quality and standards are maintained throughout, with an appetite to incorporate standardised processes and working templates across all aspects of managing a project.

Required

•  A relevant HNC/HND, degree, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience in project management, engineering, business, operations or a related discipline.

•  Some relevant experience gained in a project, engineering, manufacturing, operations or delivery environment, with evidence of taking ownership of tasks and following them through.

•  Good organisation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records and work effectively across a multi-disciplinary team.

•  A basic understanding of project-management fundamentals such as planning, milestones, risk and issue management, change control, cost awareness and progress reporting.

•  Confidence using Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, and willingness to learn project controls and business systems.

•  Commercial awareness and an understanding that scope, schedule, cost, quality and risk need to be managed together.

•  Ability to obtain and maintain the level of UK Security Clearance required for the role.

•  Willingness and ability to travel to customer, supplier and site locations when required; a full UK driving licence is desirable for this purpose.

Preferred

•  Association for Project Management (APM) membership or a recognised project-management qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.

•  Experience in marine, naval, defence, energy or another regulated / high-integrity engineering environment.

•  Exposure to supplier management, manufacturing, integration or test activities.

•  Familiarity with SAP and planning tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.

•  Exposure to project cost forecasting, risk management, change control or formal project reviews.

-        Ability to manage and adapt to different people’s needs and maintain a healthy working environment within the wider project team.

You will gain exposure to planning and controls, commercial management, supplier delivery, engineering and test coordination, customer engagement and project governance, with support to develop towards greater work-package and project ownership and relevant professional qualifications. This will allow a repertoire of skills and experience to be built up to be able to run whole projects as the main project manager in the future.
