Description
Equipment Operator
Waste Connections is looking for a safety-conscious Equipment Operator to join our team. The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner to support daily landfill, transfer station, or site operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining site productivity while ensuring compliance with company safety and environmental standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, compactors, loaders, excavators, haul trucks, and other site equipment.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment.
- Maintain proper operation of equipment to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Assist with site maintenance, grading, earthmoving, and material handling activities.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and maintenance needs.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Work closely with supervisors and team members to complete daily operational goals.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor as needed.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
