Description
Manpower Malta is seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join our client's team.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing client accounting activities, financial reporting and compliance, ensuring accurate financial records and timely reporting. Working closely with the Head of Accounts, the role involves overseeing reconciliations, supporting audit and tax processes, monitoring financial transactions and improving accounting procedures. The successful candidate will also contribute to budgeting, financial analysis and internal controls while supporting the development of other team members. This opportunity is suited to a qualified accounting professional with strong analytical skills, attention to detail and experience in back-office accounting and financial operations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain general ledger accounts, prepare financial statements and ensure accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Manage VAT accounting, support tax compliance and audit preparations, and conduct financial compliance reviews, including transaction monitoring.
- Oversee account reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, receipts, payments and related banking processes.
- Support budgeting and forecasting, conduct variance analysis, and implement internal controls and improvements to accounting procedures.
- Maintain accounting systems and financial data accuracy while supporting and mentoring team members and liaising with clients and other stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- CPA, ACCA, CMA or an equivalent professional qualification is essential.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in back-office accounting and financial operations.
- Proficiency in financial software, including Xero and Binderr, AI tools and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; maritime or yachting industry experience is highly desirable.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills, excellent written and spoken English, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with integrity and confidentiality.
