Job Description
Purpose of the role:
The Vice President, Global Insurance Solutions will be responsible for engaging with and developing solutions for insurance companies predominantly in Asia Pacific, with the goal of growing our insurance client base and insurance-related assets under management in partnership with our relationship management colleagues.
Overview of team:
The Brookfield Global Insurance Solutions team is responsible for growing the firm’s third-party insurance client segment. This includes serving as the subject matter experts on insurance objectives and constraints, setting the firm’s growth strategy alongside regional business leaders, building and structuring strategies and solutions to meet client needs, and managing and deepening relationships across the globe. The insurance segment is a strategic growth segment for Brookfield and has team members located in New York, London, and Hong Kong.
Responsible for:
Regulatory and rating agency expertise
- Serve as the Asia Pacific subject matter expert on regulatory capital frameworks governing insurer investment decisions, including Hong Kong RBC, Singapore RBC, and the variants of ICS adopted in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, along with IFRS and market-specific financial reporting treatment of the asset classes Brookfield manages.
- Monitor regulatory, accounting, and rating agency developments across the Asia Pacific, assess the implications for insurance investors and for Brookfield's product set, and communicate them clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Act as the internal reference point on how a given strategy consumes capital, is treated for financial reporting, and fits within an insurer's ALM, liquidity, rating, and other constraints.
Product strategy and positioning
- Partner with product, portfolio management and fundraise management colleagues to assess which Brookfield strategies are best suited to insurers in each market in Asia Pacific, and what adjustments in vehicle, structure, or packaging would improve their fit.
- There will be opportunities to support the existing team with the development of structured solutions, including the structuring, rating agency process, and portfolio rationale.
- Build and maintain the analytical work that supports product positioning — capital efficiency comparisons, peer and competitor analysis, and assessments of how Brookfield's offering compares to the alternatives.
- Contribute to the insurance product roadmap by identifying gaps between insurer demand and Brookfield's current platform.
Supporting capital formation
- Develop and maintain the technical content the capital formation teams rely on: positioning materials, talking points, case studies and responses to recurring insurer questions.
- Educate Global Client Group colleagues and other internal stakeholders on insurance client needs, constraints and vocabulary, so that coverage teams can engage insurers credibly.
- Join client and consultant meetings as the technical expert at the request of capital formation colleagues.
- Quarterback technical insurance client due diligence requests through to resolution, serving as liaison between the Global Client Group, Client Relations, Portfolio Managers, Product Specialists, Legal, Accounting and Diligence Services.
- Contribute to thought leadership on the insurance market and represent Brookfield at insurance industry conferences and events.
- Collaborate with the Global Client Group, Client Relations and Portfolio Management to identify and drive improvements in insurance LP and consultant reporting.
