Description
This position will provide professional human services work, assisting the Income Maintenance Supervisor II and the Income Maintenance Program Manager, with the Adult Medicaid Unit.

This position will provide professional human services work, assisting the Income Maintenance Supervisor II and the Income Maintenance Program Manager, with the Adult Medicaid Unit. This unit performs the intake and eligibility functions of the various Adult Medicaid Programs and the State/County Special Assistance and Long-Term Care Program. This position will serve as lead worker over the unit’s staff; conducting second party reviews, provide training for new and existing staff regarding the unit’s programs and NC FAST computer system; and covering vacant caseloads as deemed necessary to meet business needs. This position will carry a small caseload. Other duties as assigned.
Caseworker must have excellent computer skills sufficient to use NC FAST, NC's online management system, as well as various other search engines and software programs. Caseworker must possess excellent interviewing, listening, reasoning, organizational and computational skills with the ability to read, comprehend and evaluate documents from a multitude of sources. Worker must possess the ability to manage and work independently, be extremely organized yet sufficiently flexible to meet unplanned assigned work. Caseworker must have the ability to perform functions within structured timeframes. Caseworker must have the ability to communicate effectively with applicants/clients, the public at large, public officials and other agencies to obtain data, explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures.
Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field, Business or Communication; or 2-year Associate
degree from a community college; or 1 year experience as a caseworker with direct client contact.
Bilingual applicants with fluency in Spanish are encouraged to apply. Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires standing and occasionally requires walking, sitting, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
