Overview
This onsite, nonexempt position is located at Spokane Eye Clinic, which is part of Prism Vision Group.
Compensation Range: $18-$39.45/hr (Dependent on Experience)
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Materials Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the entire inventory process beginning with the placement of the orders with vendors through receiving, verifying, storing and distribution of supplies to the proper assigned locations. This position supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center. Employee actively participates in quality improvement activities as assigned by leadership.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generates purchase orders: confirms pricing, quantity, unit of measure in electronic inventory system
- Completes PO Confirmations after orders are placed through the electronic inventory system so inventory costs remain up-to-date.
- Verifies daily delivery of items with packing slips and purchase orders an identifies back-orders.
- Communicates back orders to leadership in a timely manner to avoid patients care delay or disruption
- Receives inventory into the electronic inventory system to update quantities on hand
- Uploads packing slips to the purchase orders for AP review
- Updates the inventory item master list and preference cards as new items are added to the inventory and as otherwise needed

- Maintains appropriate par levels on all implants.
- Orders special request lenses, replacement consignment lenses and other implants in a timely manner to avoid expedited shipping charges

- Maintains open communication with facility staff regarding back-ordered items (in addition to leadership as noted above)
- Coordinates approval of invoices with accounts payable team
- Completes physical inventory counts as directed
- Maintains receiving dock and storerooms in neat and orderly manner to ensure safety and cleanliness
- Participates in performance improvement activities as related to inventory process.
- Prepares paperwork and ships return items from the Surgery Center utilizing most appropriate carriers and shipping methods
- Assist in the operating room when needed.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of the center
- Performs all job functions in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to all policies
- Knowledge of Privacy Practices & Patient Bill of Rights.
- Maintains knowledge of Infection Control & OSHA standards of practice.
- Knowledge of centers Policies & Procedures.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Surgical Technician experience and/or certification (certification not required)
- Basic knowledge of medical supplies. Experience in a health care facility in the role of surgical technician
- Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language.

WORK CONDITIONS
Environment: This position is located in an Ambulatory Surgery Center. Physical Demands: this position requires extensive mobility, walking, and standing. Most of the days work involves pushing, pulling, and lifting patients or equipment. There is a potential exposure to patients with communicable diseases and/or blood borne pathogens.
