As a Logistics Specialist at GE Vernova, you'll own the end-to-end logistics journey for major project assignments: from evaluating transport feasibility during the bidding phase, all the way through to safe, on-time, on-budget delivery at project sites across India and beyond.
This role sits within GE Vernova's Supply Chain function and reports to the Logistics Manager in India. You'll work closely with procurement teams, project supply chain managers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transport partners — serving as the go-to logistics subject matter expert for your region.

Job Description

What You'll Do

• Lead project logistics from bid to delivery — conduct transport feasibility studies and route surveys during the bidding phase (ITO), define transport parameters, and prepare freight Request for Quotations (RFQs) with follow-up and comparison analysis.

• Source and contract logistics partners — prepare and issue RFQs to approved freight forwarders, heavy lift operators, and transporters; lead freight negotiations and finalize contracts for both domestic and international freight; raise Purchase Orders in SAP (Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing).

• Manage transport execution — build transport plans for each assigned project, coordinate pickups with suppliers and forwarders, track shipments to ensure timely port arrival, and oversee customs clearance and final dispatch to project sites.

• Drive cost and compliance — optimize container and vehicle utilization to reduce transport costs; ensure all logistics activities comply with applicable customs regulations, transport laws, and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards; follow Packing, Lifting and Lashing (PALILA) protocols to ensure safe cargo handling.

• Monitor and improve logistics performance — evaluate transporter and freight forwarder performance against agreed metrics and contribute to continuous improvement in regional logistics efficiency.

You're an experienced logistics professional with a strong foundation in project freight — someone who can navigate both the detail of a single shipment and the complexity of a multi-modal, cross-border supply chain. You know how to work with internal teams and external partners at all levels, and you bring a practical, solutions-focused mindset to every challenge.

Required

• 5+ years of experience in project logistics, including both domestic and international freight management

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

• Strong working knowledge of Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) and contract management in a logistics context

• Hands-on experience managing customs clearance through brokers and coordinating with shipping lines and freight forwarders

• Proven ability to prepare freight RFQs, conduct comparisons, and negotiate with logistics service providers

• Familiarity with ERP systems, specifically SAP, for purchase order creation and logistics documentation

• Fluency in English (written and verbal)

• Willingness to travel to ports, project sites, and route survey locations as needed

Preferred

• Experience in Hydropower or EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) project environments

• Knowledge of PALILA standards for packing, lifting, and lashing of project cargo

• Exposure to trade zone regulations and strategic logistics planning at a regional or global level

• Proficiency in local language (Hindi and Gujarati)
