This role is responsible for validating highly available, mission-critical trading and market infrastructure systems. The successful candidate will test complex multi-protocol integrations, real-time transaction processing workflows, market data distribution services and automated trading interfaces while ensuring the quality, reliability and operational readiness of ASX market technology platforms.
Design, review and execute test cases, test scenarios and test suites.
Perform functional, system integration, end-to-end, regression, parallel, operational readiness and production verification
testing.
Validate trading workflows, order management and market data processing across applicable interfaces and protocols.
Prepare and manage test data, environment dependencies and execution readiness activities.
Identify, investigate, document and track defects through to resolution.
Provide test execution reporting, quality metrics and release evidence.
Participate in risk assessments, test planning, estimations and release readiness reviews.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the QE&T Community of Practice.
Learn and use of automation tools which are provided by external vendors and developed internally.
Design, build and maintain a test automation suite.
Improve productivity by using employer approved AI tools in test engineering
Must have:
5+ years' experience in software testing within complex, mission-critical, high-availability systems.
Experience testing distributed, event-driven or real-time transaction processing systems.
Experience testing systems that communicate using multiple protocols and interfaces, including FIX (Financial
Information Exchange), APIs, messaging platforms, file-based integrations or equivalent.
Experience analysing message flows, system interactions, and data transformations across integrated platforms.
Strong system, system integration, end-to-end, regression and release testing experience.
Experience working in highly regulated or operationally critical industries such as Financial Markets, Banking, Payments
or similar complex environments.
Experience investigating and troubleshooting production-like issues using logs, message tracing, databases and
monitoring tools.
Experience with SQL and reconciliation of large and complex datasets.
Experience working within CI/CD delivery environments.
Experience with test automation frameworks, automation strategy and automated test execution.
Experience using Linux/Unix environments and command-line tools.
Experience with Jira, Confluence and modern test management practices.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Nice to have:
Experience testing exchange, clearing, settlement, derivatives or market data platforms.
Experience within futures, options, equities, fixed income or OTC trading environments.
Strong knowledge of market protocols such as FIX, ITCH, OUCH, GLIMPSE or FAST.
Experience testing low-latency or high-throughput systems.
Experience with Kafka, Avro, event streaming and real-time data distribution architectures.
Experience in electronic trading, algorithmic trading or market surveillance platforms.
Understanding of exchange operations, order lifecycle management and market data dissemination.
Experience with Java or Python development.
Exposure to cloud-native architectures, containerisation and modern DevOps practices.
ISTQB Advanced certification or equivalent.
