The Assistant Manager, Events & Business Development in the Department of Industry & Partnerships (INP) leads the end-to-end management of corporate and industry events, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. This role manages complex event logistics, including event flow, attendee experience, vendor coordination, and contingency planning.
The role also leads industry workforce transformation and advisory initiatives. This includes engaging companies to identify business and workforce capability gaps, developing skills maps and future-ready workforce plans, and advising on upskilling, reskilling, and job redesign strategies aligned with national frameworks such as SkillsFuture.
The role will require strong coordination skills, sound judgement, good business acumen and the ability to manage multiple platforms, stakeholders, and deliverables independently.
[What you will be working on]
Key Responsibilities:
Events & Campaigns (Industry Engagement)
- Support the planning and delivery of marketing and communications for major industry events, conferences, exhibitions, and summits.
- Coordinate event-related communications including key messages, programmes, stage content, signage, media materials, multimedia assets, and post-event highlights.
- Work closely with internal teams, partners, vendors, and organisers to ensure consistency and accuracy of messaging across event touchpoints.
- Support post-event reporting, content curation, and documentation to evaluate impact and inform future improvements.
Business Development
- Curate and customise industry-relevant training packages by translating company needs into structured learning journeys, leveraging Singapore Polytechnic’s short courses and modular programmes.
- Develop and deliver company-specific competency and skills roadmaps by mapping current and future skill requirements against job roles and business objectives, and recommending progressive upskilling pathways leveraging Singapore Polytechnic’s CET offerings.
- Lead and deliver industry workforce transformation and advisory initiatives by engaging companies to diagnose business and workforce capability gaps
[What we are looking for]
Requirements:
- Degree in Events Management, Communications, Marketing, Business Development, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in Events Management and Business Development.
- Experience in public sector, education, or large organisations is an advantage.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Strong planning and coordination skills in complex event management.
- Good stakeholder management.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities.
- Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage ambiguity.
- Professional, grounded, and people-oriented.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility and follow-through.
- Able to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
