Description
There are currently several short-term (1-year) Federal Work Study employment positions open in the Dean's Office at Eugene Lang College. Ideal applicants must possess a positive attitude; an ability to work well with staff, faculty, and students; attention to detail; schedule flexibility (especially early mornings); and punctuality. Student workers will be expected to maintain a professional attitude and treat all materials and information they encounter with the utmost discretion. Student workers will assist with department events, marketing, and logistics as needed. Candidates will be paid through the federal work study program. As such, only students actively enrolled in the work-study program are eligible for this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General Administrative Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet visitors and answer phones: direct callers and visitors to appropriate sources or information
Assist Lang College staff in short-term and long-term projects
Maintain Dean's office files and assist in office communication
Sort mail, make copies/PDFs, file and shred documents
Email staff/faculty and check ELC Dean e-mail address as needed
Deliver mail and packages to other offices as needed (on and off campus)
Set up and organize for office events
Stock and maintain supply rooms, copy rooms, basement printers and faculty resource room
Maintain general neatness and organization of Dean's office, including the kitchen pantry and conference room
Ensure the Millimeter Reading Room is organized and tidy
Design promotional materials (posters, flyers, PDFs, JPEG, graphics) geared to students for our department events as needed
Distribute posters/flyers
Greet and register event guests
Proof copy and branding for marketing materials and digital event promo
Transcribe audio or edit transcriptions as needed
Assist Senior Secretaries with other general office duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Adaptable and enthusiastic attitude, strong work ethic, proactive stance
Self-starter, able to work independently
Able to take direction and responsibility for assignments, follows through on jobs until completion
Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills
Good communication skills
Strong organization skills and interest in office administration
Proficiency in Google Apps, Microsoft Office Suite, and internet research
Basic understanding of design principles
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with data entry and working in Excel databases
Understanding of University divisions and programs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with flyer design (Canva or comparable) a plus
Experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator/Acrobat/Publisher) a plus
WORK MODE: On-Campus Position ,Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely. #LI-DNI
Hourly Rate: $18

Responsibilities:
The student assistant greets visitors to the 3rd floor of Eugene Lang College and provides assistance as needed. The position also supports Dean’s Office staff and faculty as needed and monitors the copy room/mailboxes/supply closet. Additional duties include posting flyers/notices around the 11th and 12th Street buildings as well as other TNS buildings.
