About the Role
As a Corporate Accountant, you are passionate about providing best practice financial reporting and analysis. You build strong relationships with key stakeholders and leverage your accounting expertise to enable Telstra meet internal and external reporting obligations in a complex accounting and regulatory environment. In this role, you will get an insight into how our statutory results come together and are reported to the market.
Important note: this role is based in Melbourne, VIC, to support the nature of the work and team collaboration.

What You’ll Do
- Apply your accounting expertise and analytical thinking skills to recognise patterns in data to identify any discrepancies in review and preparation of the financial statements
- Leverage sound written communication skills to draft internal reporting instructions, notes to the financial statements in the financial reports, explanatory commentary to those notes and Board papers
- Employ your command of MS Office tools (Excel, Word) to develop new and improve existing templates used to collate information from the stakeholders
- Validate accuracy of set-up of internal software applications, including FrameMaker, used to collate financial information for the preparation of the financial reports
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure timely submission of inputs to the financial reports and to address any review queries
- Continue to build your knowledge in accounting and financial reporting to contribute to the preparation of Telstra’s financial reports
About You
You will bring the following skills and experiences to be successful in the role:
- Full membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants or CPA in Australia, or equivalent, to support best practice financial reporting.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance and/or Accountancy, with the ability to apply this knowledge to financial reporting and analysis.
- Experience in chartered accounting, public accounting practice or a similar major-company role, with exposure to statutory reporting, due diligence and group reporting obligations.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, with the analytical skills to recognise patterns in data, identify discrepancies and provide sound technical advice.
- Strong auditing experience in a Big Four, mid-tier accounting firm or large corporate statutory reporting function.
- Knowledge of Australian Corporations Law and ASX Listing Rules to support compliant financial reports, ASX filings and governance requirements.
- Strong written communication skills to draft reporting instructions, financial report commentary and Board papers.
- Independent thinking and sound accounting judgement to analyse issues and apply technical knowledge with integrity.
- A collaborative approach to building stakeholder relationships, resolving review queries and delivering high-quality financial reporting outcomes.
