This position reports to:
Automation Engineering Manager__
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects. Primarily responsible for supporting customers in Malaysia, while also providing support to customers across Southeast Asia (SEA), Australia, and New Zealand as required.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid, Onsite #LI-Onsite
This role is contributing to the machine automation within ABB's Automation division in Malaysia.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Planning, monitoring, and executing application development tasks, including new product development, incremental modifications, and timely closure of assigned work.
Providing technical support for testing, installation, commissioning, debugging, and diagnostics activities.
Translating conceptual designs into detailed engineering documentation through modelling, prototyping, simulation, and calculations, while applying design thinking and best practices.
Assisting in preparing engineering proposals and presentations and maintaining effective communication with customers and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Identifying and managing project risks/issues, ensuring compliance with organizational standards, and promoting teamwork, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications for the role:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical / Instrumentation / Automation or related discipline) or equivalent.
3-5 years of application development and support experience.
Well-developed understanding of Industrial Automation systems like PLCs, motors, drives, motion control and robotic systems.
Demonstrable experience in building strong and enduring customer relationships within highly dynamic and competitive markets.
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a global environment.
Willing to travel for site support and commissioning as required.
