Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Test Engineer I-II based at our Test and Validation Center in Greenville, NC.
Level placement is based on experience, technical expertise, and scope of responsibility.
What you will do:
Baseline Responsibilities:
Design and develop components and assemblies for industrial vehicles, ensuring they meet performance, durability, and reliability requirements.
Document design specifications to support manufacturing.
Work with manufacturing teams to optimize products for efficient and cost-effective production.
Support production processes on-site during key phases such as prototype, pilot, and initial production runs.
Engineer II – Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain and update detailed design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage project tasks, ensure accuracy, and timely completion.
Provide guidance and training to team members working on the project.

What you will need:
Engineer I
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. Electrical Engineering is preferred; Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science degrees may also be considered.
Experience: 0-2 years of industry experience
Engineer II
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. Electrical Engineering is preferred; Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science degrees may also be considered.
Experience: 2-4 years of industry experience
Skills, Experience & Abilities
Engineer I
Foundational understanding of test planning, validation methods, and technical documentation
Experience with data acquisition tools, instrumentation, sensors, and test equipment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, layouts, and test procedures
Foundational knowledge of engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause problem solving
Basic knowledge of FMEA, DOE, and structured test validation principles
Exposure to vehicle electrical systems, controls, or PLC programming
Foundational knowledge of CAN communication systems and vehicle network diagnostics
Understanding of vehicle systems, mechanical components, and system-level interactions
Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize test data to support engineering decisions
Safe and effective use of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment in a test environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze and present information effectively, and communicate clearly.
Collaborative, adaptable, and self-directed with strong problem-solving skills and a positive mindset.
Engineer II
Proficient in test planning, validation methods, and technical documentation
Experience using data acquisition systems, sensors, instrumentation, and test equipment
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, layouts, and test procedures
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, automotive, or vehicle systems
Experience with FMEA, DVPs, DOE, and structured product or component validation
Familiarity with PLC programming, controls, and CAN communication systems
Able to perform engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause problem solving
Capable of compiling, analyzing, and presenting test data in reports and design reviews
Safe and effective use of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a test or engineering environment
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with small teams
Strong communication skills
Creative problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn and adapt
