- Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with established policies and procedures, including sterile, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition preparations.
- Assess medication therapy and recommend evidence-based treatment, monitoring plans, and cost-effective alternatives to providers.
- Support pharmacokinetic consultations, drug dosing, and antibiotic stewardship by reviewing culture and susceptibility results.
- Provide timely drug information to healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
- Identify and promptly report suspected adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
- Support the formulary through therapeutic substitution protocols and appropriate medication selection.
- Document clinical activities and interventions accurately.
Lead pharmacy operations and quality

- Supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel, including verifying pharmacy technicians’ daily work.
- Participate in medication-use reviews, quality improvement activities, audits, inspections, and related data collection and recordkeeping.
- Attend and contribute to pharmacy, Infection Control, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and other relevant meetings or councils.
- Help implement new workflows and department processes, and support staff education and new-hire orientation.
- Organize and prioritize work to ensure timely pharmacy services, working independently with minimal supervision.
- Assume pharmacist-lead responsibilities when the Pharmacy Director is unavailable, including managing pharmacy operations and responding to overnight or after-hours calls.
- Perform the essential duties of the Pharmacy Director in their absence.
Support the pharmacy team
- Participate in staff meetings, orientation, education, and training.
- Review professional literature and materials relevant to pharmacy practice.
- Maintain required competencies and complete annual compliance training on time.
- Keep pharmacy work areas and equipment clean, organized, and ready for use.

Knowledge and skills
- Strong knowledge of medications and drug therapy.
- Sound judgment and the ability to make decisions independently.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-service skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, including in busy or confined settings.
