This position is based in Los Lunas, NM, and requires extended travel assignments to project locations throughout New Mexico and surrounding states. Assignments may include, but are not limited to, Eunice, NM; Santa Teresa, NM; and Cheyenne, WY.
Summary
The Traveling Project Engineer provides essential administrative, technical, and coordination support to the Project Manager / Service Manager and the project team across multiple project locations. This position is designated as a traveling role and requires assignment to project locations based on company and project needs. The employee will work from assigned project sites for the duration necessary to support project execution and business objectives. Unlike occasional business travel, this role requires ongoing assignment to designated project locations. Assignments may include, but are not limited to, Eunice, NM; Santa Teresa, NM; and Cheyenne, WY. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple structured tasks in a fast-paced environment. The role requires a high degree of accuracy, consistency, and follow-through, with a hands-on approach where productivity is driven by individual execution and accountability. The position emphasizes dependable individual contribution and professional development within the project team.

Responsibilities
- Travel as assigned to project sites based on company/ project needs
- Serve as an on-site point of contact for the project team, supporting coordination between field personnel, the Project / Service Manager, and internal departments
- Coordinate phone calls, emails, and messages from internal and external customers, ensuring all communications are documented and assigned according to company procedures
- Assist the Project / Service Manager with priority items and task execution
- Track and follow up on open and pending tasks across multiple project locations
- Initiate jobs and tasks within accounting and service management software
- Dispatch service employees to projects as applicable
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through professionalism and strong customer service skills
- Complete assigned tasks on time and accurately, whether on-site or working remotely while traveling
- Assist with billing and filing
- Maintain files and documents, and provide information as needed
- Provide status reporting from the field and respond to requests for service, assistance, and information from internal and external customers
- Prepare correspondence for signature as needed
- Enter data accurately and on time into the corresponding Project Management software
- Maintain records for open jobs to ensure all required project documents exist and are current
- Follow company travel policies, including accurate and timely submission of travel and expense documentation

- Maintain an understanding of project and company concepts, practices, policies, and procedures
- Physical demands include extended travel by vehicle and/or air, long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing
- Exposure to loud noise, dirt, and the elements should be expected on job sites; conditions may vary by project location and season
- Must possess and maintain eligibility to drive and operate company vehicles
- Job requires intermediate computer proficiency and advanced critical thinking skills
- Other duties, activities, and responsibilities may vary and change as assigned
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or another relevant field preferred
- Relevant work experience (4+ years) may substitute for the degree
- One year of trade or projects experience preferred
- Must be willing and able to travel frequently outside the Albuquerque metro area, including extended stays
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
