Description
The Associate for Public Sector Banking will work with the Parent Account Managers (PAMs) to develop new business, strengthen client relationships, ensure client satisfaction and deliver the best ideas, products and services to federal, state and local government entities. The Associate will actively develop and call on contacts across priority clients to support the strategic growth goals set forth by the PAMs. The goal of this position is to drive sustainable revenue growth and the highest degree of client satisfaction by delivering the best of Citi’s global platform across Banking, Markets, and Services while efficiently deploying the Bank’s capital and effectively managing risk.
- Drive strategic and tactical initiatives to support bankers’ revenue growth goals across Banking, Markets and Services products and solutions, ensure client satisfaction, and on-time execution
- Lead the creation of presentations, proposals, best practices and thought leadership to support PAMs and Public Sector leaders in client conversations and industry engagement
- Play an instrumental and impactful role on deal team(s) to cross-sell all Banking, Markets and Services products to support revenue growth
- Enhance trusted advisor and first call position through frequent client calling and engagement guided by PAMs and the leadership team; participate proactively in client meetings and ensure timely follow up and execution
- Analyze financial data required for clients’ credit needs, organize and manage strategic client account plans, wallet share analysis, briefing documents, overall client management and competitive analysis
- Adopt revenue growth and revenue recognition goals in support of a broader goal set by the PAM team(s) and documented during annual goal setting period and measured throughout the year
- Build robust network across Public Sector Banking and with all Banking, Markets and Services partners
- Lead interaction with ICM colleagues to ensure coordinated 1LOD approach when engaging with Risk partners and develop working relationships with Independent Compliance Risk Management (Sanctions & AML), Legal, Onboarding and KYC to ensure unique aspects of our clients are considered and reflected in how we do business
- Building credit skills by completing Associate level Risk courses
- Master the Capital & Risk Approvals process and various Risk frameworks; serve as lead on return calculations for lending transactions, as well as key point of contact for Debt Capital Markets-related Compliance requirements including True and deal number requests, MiFID Compliance process
- Ensure “zero tolerance” policy for expired KYC records and manage the team to completion
- Develop a deep knowledge of the client and their finance and banking operations in order to advocate for their bespoke needs within the Citi network
- Become expert in navigating Citi processes with a Public Sector lens and approach new processes by looking at them from a public sector angle to ensure the unique needs of our sector are incorporated
- Contribute to Global Public Sector events and initiatives including working in an advisory capacity with other PAM teams, seniors and key stakeholders with client facing materials
- Proactively train, mentor and manage junior staff in an apprenticeship environment; serve as primary resource for analyst(s) and work alongside them on business management reviews, briefing memos, and strategic presentations, ensuring to audit/proofread all material before sharing with seniors
- Manage and catalogue client presentations and segment content by organizing key presentations and files, in order to provide PSG colleagues with off the shelf material and color during RFP processes or other critical engagements

- Ability to manage competing priorities between internal, strategic tasks and client facing responsibilities
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of banking experience, Public Sector experience preferred
- Series 79 and 63 required within 90 days of accepting the job
- Understanding of Capital Markets, Services & Markets products and Corporate Banking business (lending, credit, regulatory)
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
