Chemours is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing Controllership team. This position will be available at the Asturias (Spain) site and report directly to the Global Payroll Accounting, OTC, Corporate and SG&A Manager.

 

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Payroll Accounting Close

• Review payroll-related journal entries and system interfaces to the general ledger.
• Review payroll balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items.
• Record and analyze payroll-related accruals, including vacation, bonus, incentive compensation, severance, and other employee-related liabilities.
• Validate interfaces between payroll systems and the general ledger and resolve discrepancies between source data and recorded balances.
• Prepare payroll flux analyses and provide clear explanations for significant variances.
• Tracks payroll-related cash funding and approve deduction related wire requests.
• Analyzes payroll transactions for appropriate classification and compliance with generally accepted accounting standards and accounting policy.

Oversight of Outsourced Service Delivery

• Supervise transactional activities performed by the staff of an outsourced third-party accounting service provider to ensure they are completed timely and accurately in accordance with the contractual service level agreements.
• Review service delivery performance and process adherence.
• Support training, knowledge transfer and operational excellence programs.
• Ensure continuity of operations and process documentation.

Process Improvement and Transformation

• Identify automation and simplification opportunities.
• Lead implementation of new payroll processes and activity transitions.
• Develop SOPs and maintain process documentation.

•     Partner with Finance, HR, IT and business stakeholders on process enhancements.

• Identifies financial / accounting training needs and developing / facilitating training execution

Compliance and Controls

• Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and all applicable internal control standards relating to Payroll processes.
• Coordinate and support all internal (via AuditBoard) and external audit activities. (via Connect)
• Support local entity statutory audits by ensuring that all audit requests (mainly from PwC) and other auditors are addressed accurately and within required timelines.

Revenue Recognition Accounting

• Review sales transactions, shipping documentation, and other relevant support to determine the appropriate revenue recognition treatment on a quarterly basis.
• Prepare and record revenue recognition, revenue deferral, revenue reversal, and related cost-of-goods-sold journal entries.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for revenue accruals, deferrals, reversals, and related balance sheet accounts.
• Support quarter-end and year-end revenue reviews, financial statement support, and audit requests.

Reporting

• Coordinate Balance Sheet flux analysis for US entities.
• Prepare management reporting and respond to ad hoc controllership and business requests.
• Support payroll cash forecasting, management reporting, and other payroll accounting analyses, as applicable.

Stakeholder Management

• Serve as a knowledgeable accounting partner and communicate issues, risks, and required actions in a timely manner.
• Partner with Local Controllers, Treasury, Tax, HR, and Business Finance teams.
• Facilitate resolution of issues involving multiple functions and legal entities.

 

The following is required for this role:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting Field
• 3-5 + years of accounting experience (payroll accounting experience a plus)
• Experience with SAP, Oracle or another large-scale ERP
• Ability to establish and manage processes and related internal controls
• Experience working across various jurisdictions (multistate and/or multinational)
• Works independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Knowledge of the EMEA, LATAM or APAC payroll processes and related accounting activities
• Strong Internal Controls able to maintain strict confidentiality (candidate has access to compensation data)

 

The following is preferred for this role:

• 2+ years of supervisory experience
• Previous Big Four experience
• Familiarity with an outsourced service provider environment and managing service level agreements and related compliance monitoring
• Ability to manage teams working in various locations / remotely
• HRIS system knowledge such as Workday or another large-scale payroll system

• Demonstrated process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, or control effectiveness.

€40,000.00 - €62,500.00

Annual Bonus Target:

7%
