Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant accounting activities for assigned clients and properties while supporting the broader financial health of M&O. This role provides financial insight, resolves complex accounting matters, and helps strengthen processes and systems that support effective decision-making across the organization.

As a trusted financial partner to internal teams and clients, the Senior Accountant contributes to the relationships that are foundational to M&O’s success. Through thoughtful analysis, proactive communication, and a commitment to accuracy and service, this role helps clients confidently manage their real estate investments and supports the environments where healthcare providers care for their patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly financial close process for assigned clients and properties, including journal entries, account reconciliations, fee calculations, and financial reporting. 
• Ensure accounting activities and financial records are accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP. 
• Coordinate with internal and external clients to provide timely communication and resolve accounting questions or issues. 
• Support the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements. 
• Establish and manage bank accounts and coordinate related banking activities. 
• Review tenant lease files and accounting information as needed to support accurate financial reporting. 
• Provide guidance and leadership to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Specialists. 
• Assist with annual property budgets, cash forecasts, development accounting, and other financial projects.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university; three to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles with the ability to apply GAAP accurately and consistently. 
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. 
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
• Experience with MRI and AvidXchange preferred. 
• Experience in commercial real estate accounting preferred; investment fund accounting or private equity transactions is a plus. 
• Proactive, dependable, and collaborative approach to work.
