Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for various aspects of corporate accounting and reporting, working directly with the Assistant Corporate Controller. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial information during the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes as well as on a day-to-day basis. Interacts with many departments across the organization including plant accounting, information technology, purchasing, freight/logistics, and sales.

MAIN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Execution:

• Reviews and approves work; owns technical conclusions and documentation. Individual contributor with leadership accountability. Standard tasks include:
• Reviews and posts complex journal entries including capitalized interest, pallets, molds, etc. with unique accounting treatment. Documents in the form of a memo, accounting research to support conclusions.
• Reviews reconciliations. Can communicate internally and externally on all relevant accounts and identify improvements to the accounting treatments to better align with US GAAP and operational needs.
• Review fixed assets and lease transactions.

• Maintains relationships with third party contractors (sales tax related, property tax related, audit) for reporting purposes.

• Takes ownership over the financial statements (annual and quarterly) and drafts foot note disclosures. Presents information internally and externally as required.

• Maintains independence through the month end close process and executes with little to no errors.

• Demonstrates cross company collaboration by maintaining relationships within all departments. Exploring collaborative projects outside the standard scope of work including process improvements, assessing accounting impacts for various groups and manages multifunction team projects. Presenting resolutions and data to relevant stakeholders.

• Identifies and executes process improvements including multifunctional projects with the support of a manager.

• Mentor/manages others successfully.

• Makes high‑impact decisions with risk consideration.

Ownership & Accountability:

• Leads close cycles, audits, and team development.

Controls & Risk Awareness:

• Owns process‑level controls; designs, documents, and improves controls.

Communication & Collaboration:

• Serves as primary contact for assigned processes.

• Leads audits and communicates issues to leadership.

• Support general transactional accounting functions.
• Support FP&A team with periodic forecast and budget activities.

Additional:

• Perform a variety of special process improvement/efficiency projects as directed by leadership.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

EMPLOYEE QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• A bachelor's degree in accounting.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office software products.

• Strong Excel and reporting/database experience.

• Attention to detail, a mind towards efficiency improvements, and an ability to manage concurrent projects and deadlines.

Preferred:

• 8+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.

• Experience with JD Edwards and Hyperion.
