The Opportunity
Join our High Net Worth (HNW) underwriting team and help deliver exceptional experiences to brokers and customers while driving profitable growth.
As an Intermediate or Senior Underwriter, you will serve as a trusted underwriting expert, making sound risk decisions, providing strategic guidance to broker partners, and contributing to the continued success of the Ovation portfolio. This is an advanced underwriting role designed for experienced insurance professionals with strong technical expertise, underwriting judgment, business acumen, and relationship management skills. As part of our hybrid work environment, you'll collaborate with colleagues and broker partners while maintaining flexibility and productivity across in-office and remote settings.
What You'll Do
- Underwrite and manage High Net Worth risks, balancing customer needs with profitability and risk appetite.
- Analyze risk, pricing, coverage, and supporting documentation to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Negotiate coverage terms and premiums while maintaining underwriting discipline.
- Build and strengthen broker relationships to position Ovation as a preferred market and support profitable growth.
- Prepare quotes and manage endorsements, renewals, inspections, and policy changes.
- Review and interpret underwriting information, including claims histories, inspections, and driver abstracts.
- Deliver exceptional service with a focus on responsiveness and first-contact resolution.
- Maintain expertise across Ovation products, underwriting guidelines, and market trends.
- Leverage data, insights, and critical thinking to continuously improve underwriting outcomes.
- Effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced, multi-system environment.
What You'll Bring
- Intermediate Underwriter: 2+ years of High Net Worth property insurance experience in underwriting or brokerage.
- Senior Underwriter: 5+ years of High Net Worth property insurance experience in underwriting or brokerage.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, coverage analysis, and pricing decisions.
- Strong underwriting judgment with the ability to develop and support sound business cases.
- Knowledge of competitor products, wordings, and market appetite is an asset.
- Proven relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Success working in a hybrid environment, demonstrating accountability, collaboration, and productivity.
- CIP, CRM or CPRIA designation, completed or in progress.
- A continuous learning mindset and commitment to underwriting excellence.
What you’ll get
The salary band for this position ranges from $60,000 to $95,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
